I feel compelled to share my experience working at BGIS to provide a sincere warning to potential employees who may be considering joining this organization. My time at BGIS was marked by a toxic culture, abusive management practices, a poorly structured management hierarchy, and an overall atmosphere that was detrimental to both professional and personal well-being.

One of the most glaring issues was the pervasive toxic culture that permeated every aspect of the workplace. The environment fostered a sense of fear and anxiety among employees, making it nearly impossible to thrive or contribute positively. The toxicity stemmed from an atmosphere of constant belittling, where employees were subjected to demeaning comments and actions on a regular basis.

Management at BGIS was not only unhelpful but actively contributed to the toxic culture. Abusive behavior from higher-ups was a common occurrence, creating an environment where employees felt trapped and powerless. The lack of support from management made it challenging to voice concerns or seek resolution for ongoing issues.

The management structure itself was poorly designed, leading to confusion and chaos within the organization. Decision-making processes were opaque, and there was a glaring lack of communication from leadership. This lack of structure contributed to an overall sense of instability and uncertainty among the workforce.

Gaslighting was another prevalent issue at BGIS. Employees were consistently made to doubt their own perceptions, experiences, and even their competence. This manipulative tactic further eroded trust and confidence in the workplace, making it extremely difficult for individuals to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

In conclusion, I strongly advise potential employees to steer clear of BGIS. The toxic culture, abusive management practices, poor management structure, belittling atmosphere, and gaslighting tactics create an environment that is detrimental to one's mental and emotional well-being. There are undoubtedly better opportunities available where employees are treated with respect, and their contributions are valued. Take this review as a cautionary tale and carefully consider the potential consequences before becoming a part of BGIS's toxic work environment.

Poor leadership at the account level. Limited support from Managers. Limited growth potential unless you play the “game” (hard work and skill set doesn’t matter here). High turnover, and when people leave their work is placed onto you without pay or recognition until a replacement is found. P&C are aware but do nothing so this should shed light on the overall culture. Probably makes sense why there are so many BGIS job postings…

Benefits are ok at best. They’re routinely reduced in some way and you fund your own LTD (somewhere around $1000/year I believe). Small RRSP match that is tiered so it benefits the higher earners at the company.

Whatever your “job description” is, you can throw that out the window. It’s usually all that and then another persons position (or 2) on top of this.

Has a tuition program, which is a nice touch, however, see paragraph above.

There is better out there. Keep looking.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Best part is you’ll get fulltime hours if you’re looking for ft hours but other than that nothing.
If there’s -0 rating I like to give that not to the company itself but the people who manage the workplace like supervisor aka managers? Etc. they’re horrible, rude and bullies. They need trainings/workshop how to handle conflict with their staffs.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything…from the supervisor aka manager down to their favourite staffs…if you’re not close to their heart, ur not one of them..they’ll surely ignore your concerns, humiliated you instead. They’ll find ways you’ll be oust from the job so run away before they’ll do that to you

What is the best part of working at the company?
Don’t need to know what you are doing as long as you can close your work orders on time.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with a manager and crew lead who will not answer or return a phone call, then scream at you for not talking to them. Having my manager forge maintenance/odp records using my name and certificate number.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Absolute poison. Some of my coworkers are good people, however management/crew lead are only interested in trying to make themselves look good to corporate.

Best job I ever had. As a team lead I was entrusted with the success management of my team with managements support.  Leadership is paramount and its important that this is coming from the top down. I thoroughly enjoyed my last few years of employment with BGIS. My relationship with my supervisor was fantastic and I really felt I played an important role in achieving team members career goals, our teams ongoing "measured" successful performance, and managing through those goals, achieving the company's success. Truly a "win win" experience. 

They are the worst people to dealt with. They are only good at first and made a lot of promises. They don't have word of honor and credibility. The Directors are disgrace.  No integrity at all.  They don't pay you properly. You work overtime and they will spread your hours so that they don't pay you overtime. And when you complain you either get written off or get fired and accuse you with time theft. They want you to work on different locations at your expense. No mileage and gas payment.

The unstoppable learnings  that the company is providing for free of charge

Sometimes the directions that are unclear

Warmth and fostering growth internally 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It’s a fast paced 8hrs job in a hybrid set up

Thrown into the fire with absolutely no support. First day on the job I worked fifty-four hours without a break. Expected to be in three places at once at all times. Not involved in the hiring process, forced to supervise Employees with no experience and to remedy where those employees err, regardless of the location. On the road more than twelve hours nearly every day, was home no more than two consecutive nights in two months. No amount of effort is good enough.

If you can find another job please find one. Don’t apply here. Stressful.Management don’t care about there employees especially the ones in the lowest position. They don’t see the good sides of the employees-don’t know how to appreciate the hardworks of the people but always demand do this do that instead, looking for mistakes. Too long to elaborate… worst employer I ever had. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
5 Day week, pension and other benefits like good medical. Good head office staff and in house training courses.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bad local management and the way tasks are handed out. Micro management at local level to.
