BLACK BOND BOOKS

I worked at black bond only for a few months. I worked mainly at their Semiahmoo store, and occasionally the store on 24th ave that is no longer there. It was a nice place to work, you could choose what kind of soft music to play, what temp you wanted, and the hours were pretty good for part time. However, this line of work is very cliquey, and if you don't mold into exactly what theyre looking for, they will let you go, even if they really need people. The manager was one of the nicest people I ever met, and I loved working with her and most of the people there. The owner of the company is very dedicated to her company and her job, but she rules with an iron fist that can be stressful at best and get you fired at the worst. Theyre very particular about how the store is run, and thats a good thing, I made some mistakes through unclear communication which was why I was terminated. Overall, if you're looking for a slower paced job with women, this is pretty good one.

The owners are good to work for, but the company offers little in the way of promotion and low wages. The employees are pleasant, but this is definitely best suited to a student or other person who does not need a lot of hours and is not trying to support themselves. Good for a person who is looking for fun money as part of a two income family. 
The job included a lot of dusting, vacuuming, and organizing of books and other merchandise to make yourself appear busy.

I loved working at this job very much for the following reasons:

1) Helping customers select books, yesterday's banking, ordering 
   books for on-line customers, doing display tables.

2) Patience with customers and always leave your day-to-day
    problems at home.

3) Excellent, I could not want to work with better co-workers.

4) Sometimes I would be working on my own and therefore I
    could not help everybody at once. 

5)  Books and making my customers leave the store contented
     and happy.

The location was nice, i spent my day standing near my kiosk and selling calendars to customers. It was rather laid back. I learned how to use a cash register and scan items into a system for inventory. The management was good, i got my shifts every month so i had plenty of room to plan personal life around my shifts. I really enjoyed the people at my location, both customers and co-workers were nice.

Not allowed to READ A BOOK when the store is empty lol. Everyone does tho, I mean really. Customers are wonderful and workmates very nice. My manager was let go so a friend of the owner could take over.  She was terrible so I quit in protest. No regrets as she had a bunch of money go missing soon after, we never ever had an issue before this....just saying.

It's dreadful every day I come in to work I really wish I didn't work there but I have to to put food on the table and that's literally all I'm doing because it's not paying me enough to live in Vancouver. The managers are not good they don't care about their employees.

There are so many different calendars for pretty much every occasion. One of the most enjoyable parts of the job was when customers find a calendar that they think doesn't exist.

It was such a pleasure to work for his company. The staff always had a smile on their face and we're always eager to get the jobs needed for the day done. Very friendly, safe and welcoming atmosphere.

The owners have no money They do not care about their employees they worked like dogs they're not good people there is no room for advancement so don't expect any raises and don't expect to make a good income

I was hired as a temporary worker for the yearly calendar kiosk, great place to work, coworkers were amazing and management was always very good. I worked there for a few months and it was awesome
