During my time at the organization, salaries remained frozen for five consecutive years. When concerns were raised, leadership often attributed the issue to ministry funding shortfalls, without demonstrating visible advocacy on behalf of staff. This lack of support was disheartening, especially given the consistent expectation to go above and beyond for clients and the community.
There continues to be a noticeable disparity in compensation between upper management and front-line staff, particularly community workers. It often felt as though only clinical roles were recognized and valued. Non-clinical staff were frequently overlooked, with limited opportunities for advancement, minimal recognition, and a general lack of support.
Communication from upper management regarding organizational or workflow changes was inconsistent and often reactive, rather than proactive. Front-line staff had little to no opportunity to provide input on decisions that directly impacted their work, contributing to a sense of disconnection and undervaluation.
While the mission of the organization was meaningful, the internal culture did not always reflect that same level of care and respect toward its employees.

Management will always choose abusive clients side over employees. Drown you with with the work of 4 people and file it under their purposely vague “extra responsibilities” clause not caring whether you’re struggling or not. If you dare bring up the fact you’re under pressure  you will have policies and procedures shoved at you until you leave. The staff is wonderful but overworked and stressed and it shows, just call as a patient. Management does not care and will definitely take their power trips out on you. I learned HR is there to ensure you’re not an issue for the company so try not to let the clients constant and daily  verbal abuse,  managements lack of sympathy and power trips for, piles of work get to you. Be ready for many very biased mandatory trainings sometimes the same one many times a year. You may be asked to do tasks that don’t exactly fall in your scope of practice but don’t worry you’re only being “Voluntold”  a word used very often at work. Good luck 

the entire management team needs to be restructured and should be supportive of their employees. Management creates a toxic work environment and worsens the mental health of their employees

Begin the day with greeting clients, taking their blood pressure heart rate and blood glucose if need be. Start with a warm up which includes stretching,follow the exercise prescription. Meet with physicians and nurses to see if they are making improvements and what needs to be done for their next session.

Management can be condescending at times. Sometimes it just does not feel worth it to work so hard for so little appreciation and compensation. Professional development is barely existent. 
Cannot count how many times our lives were put at risk by management’s decision making. 
The fulfillment from the work is great though, if you work here and you’re not a doctor, you mostly do it for the community. 
Don’t hold your breath for the promotion. 

I have gained valuable insight into my dietetic knowledge.
These are all due to extremely welcoming and helpful staff of Black Creek CHC, who offered me terrific career advice. Moreover practicing under the supervision of the professional and knowledgeable preceptors was a great chance for me to advance my knowledge in dietetics in communities.

- made phone calls for a social justice committee
- help organize the workshops
- organized and pack food for the clients too pick up for a food bank drive 
- help organize and run a homework club program 
- Managers and co workers were kind and friendly 
- be involve with social justice within the community 
- the most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the community happy

Supervised general public in free exercise room. Demographic was mainly low-income, diabetic and came from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. Was great knowing I was helping to improve the quality of life for other people

Worked long hours, learned to manage a multidisciplinary team. Created, initiated many programs from prenatal- seniors. Established partnerships in the community.

Poor work culture, poor leadership style, too much focus on targets rather than quality of work, staff health and wellness comes secondary, very little understanding of various occupations, lack of supervisory support
