Bachly Construction

Worked for them for almost a year and never got a company vehicle even with the large number of kilometers I was driving. I was told that come the availability of a work vehicle I would be given one(after my 6 month probation). My tasks included going to sites to perform estimates and monitoring job progress. On average I would drive around 150-300kms in a day depending on the number of sites I had to visit. The car allowance they paid during the probation period did not cover 100% of the driving I was doing and I made them aware of that but they did nothing. 

I also did lots of favors for the management to drop off materials and pick up samples. When I asked for a gas card due to the extra driving they said no, as I did not have a company vehicle. 

The company also has many shady business practices that I am proud to not be a part of anymore. I worked long hours starting at 7am and ending at 6pm. 

When you are "on-call" duty which happens a few times a year you receive a pager. The time period is not compensated for even though you are basically limited to eating and sleeping at your own home waiting for a call. Only if you are called out, will you be compensated and it is a fixed amount. 

For the number of responsibilities one would have, plus the expenses of driving, the compensation is not fair.

I hope no one else on indeed makes the mistake of applying here after reading this because they treat their new employees poorly and take advantage of you.

 However they promise courses which never happen like to keep you low on the scale. Lower rates with the promise of profit sharing which never happens. Ontario runs Calgary with Ontario rules. Wont hire as full time only part time which results in next to no hours during slower times like during the winter. Unless you like to be home by noon almost daily. They dislike asbestos samples. Disorganized. GM tends to tell tales about asbestos samples being taken before hand. Dont fall for it.  And dont ever get injured. First chance they get and you're gone even if you're on light duty.

At Bachly everyday is different. Things are fast paced and constantly evolving and changing, which keeps it fresh. There's always something new to learn,even for someone with 20 years experience.  I've learned a ton in my time with Bachly.  Management is second to none, organized thorough and very supportive.  Workplace culture is amazing, I don't think it could get any better frankly. Bachly goes above and beyond to make sure employees are not only well equipped, but supported and comfortable. The hardest part of the job is keeping up with the ever changing nature of the industry, that being said constantly learning new things can make things a little more intresting depending on how you look at it. If your reading this post trying to decide if Bachly is right for you, take it from me Bachly is the place to be.

The company itself has good opportunities and some great people in management, especially the vice president and a few coordinators who are respectful and supportive. However, the work environment between coworkers is very toxic. There is a lot of jealousy and favoritism, and if certain people do not like you, they try to get you removed. The shop coordinator is often rude, yells at employees, and treats people badly if things are not done exactly her way. Also, the person responsible for schedules is rarely present in the office, which creates confusion and poor communication. Overall, the company could be much better with a healthier and more professional workplace culture.

Bachly has a wide variety of divisions to work towards with a variety of positions available to suit your needs. As long as you put in the effort and are motivated to succeed, you will find what fits you. 
Bachly is a family oriented  environment so if you are only interested in a pay check, Bachly will not be the right place for you.  The workspace and management is very helpful, eager, and understanding. 
Bachly invests in their employee's as long as you have a willingness to learn, grow, and expand out of your comfort zone. 

Bachly has been a place where I feel completely comfortable as well as challenged. I have learned more working here in the past 8 months than I have in other jobs that I've worked at for years. I feel 100 percent comfortable asking questions to management as well as fellow co-workers. It is not an overly demanding job (weekends are spent relaxing and separating myself from the work), but during the week I feel like my skills are being challenged and developed constantly, which is great!

MY experience at Bachly has been amazing. Throughout my co-op term, I have consistently had the opportunity to learn and develop new skills, all while enjoying a positive and supportive work environment. Everyone at Bachly is extremely friendly and willing to help, even for minor questions. what I like and appreciate is the balance between professionalism and fun; the team can joke around while maintaining focus on the work. My time here at Bachly has been Educational, Rewarding and enjoyable, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with them again in the future. 

I worked for Bachly from 2013-2016 as an estimator in the restoration division.  My experience with the insurance team was like my second family.  The people made the day-to-day fun especially when dealing with difficult homeowners.

On-call rotation was about one every 2 months which wasn't bad at all considering other companies I have worked with.  Pay was fair with with room to grow in the company.  

Sometimes long hours in CAT situations but very infrequent.

I'd still be with the company if my wife hadn't lost her job.

Would recommend to friends/family.

I worked at Bachly for 9 years as an Administrative Assistant in their Oakville office - Custom Home Division.  I enjoyed the environment there and the team of Supervisors and Labourers that worked out of that office as well.  

The company was very fair in compensation, they allowed me to use my skills and feel appreciated.  The Management was very accessible and easy to talk to,

The work hours worked perfectly for me while my children were young.  

This is an excellent place to work.
