Genuinely, I had a wonderful time working with Backwoods Security as a licensed security guard. I had received work clothes, winter jackets, a duffel bag, and the most important of all, an incredible team to work alongside. I was only with Backwoods for about 2-3 months before moving to the trades years ago. I fully believe that my experience at Backwoods was one of the best I've had out of the prior work places I attended. Thank you for the experience, and thank you for the opportunities. 

Communication is severely lacking in the company, some managers are awesome; however a majority are clueless. The company expects you to be loyal but shows no loyalty themselves. Lots of people were let go because management didn’t like them and they can bring on new employees for less or brings on colleges from past jobs. Lots of favouritism and expects you to work overtime with no pay or recognition. 
They are supposed to be an indigenous company but barely have any indigenous staff. 
Would not recommend working for this job, unless you enjoy the thrill of potentially being let go at any point in time for no valid reason. 

I started with this company as a "maintenance/yard manager" and I use that term loosely. I started out building a fence and they work with the lanlord which is murphy oil. The manager of that company is very mentally unstable. Backwoods is VERY unorganized and I pretty much offered them everything they needed but they failed to take advantage of it. They cannot even tell you when an oil change was done last. Probably one of THE WORST companys I have every started with and feel much better now that I am gone.

Backwoods is one of the top-paying employers in the industry, if you put right effort towards the business. Decent amount of overtime available from time to time, should you want to earn extra dollars. Benefits are average.

There are some operational kinks, partially due to rapid growth. Staff turnover does exist and it is industry average. Basically, poor performers and less self-motivated people are weeded out. Job security depends on the amount of current contracts, their duration and success. It is possible to get promoted for those who want it and work hard.

Overall, I would recommend working at Backwoods.

Very top heavy management workplace. A boys club so to speak.
There are a large number of accountants running the organization and not enough support staff. The more subordinate roles often feel the burden of heavy workloads with the lack of proper support or direction.
This company being indigenous owned does very little to promote indigenous growth and opportunities as the offices are over an hour away from the Band that owns the company.

There was no shift.. The company only give me one shift in 6months.

If the company doesn’t have enough shifts why company hired

Was hired as an indigenous team lead but was not given the reins to Lead. Lateral Violence, steel river group owns half of backwoods and they let go 5 staff and brought their own friends to take over the jobs. They hired a non indigenous person to be the indigenous team lead. Treated unfairly by T.F.  Constant belittling.

Management is very helpful and cooperative.

Some of the. Sites could be stressful

There is great diversity in the company

Watching and reporting  every an hour

Great proactive company with opportunities for advancement. Equal opportunities available for all Canadians kind of vibe. Overall a great experience and learning curve.

They are very slow to respond, *especially in an emergency * 
They were constantly unresponsive due to No staff,No direction or Instruction after awhile. 
Decided to take A leave due to Shortage of work,No calls for placement and Called back to be told That I had Quit!! 
Do Not work For this Company.
