Since I started here there has been a busy and vibrant environment in which to learn and work. My day mostly consists of producing drawings on Microstation along with the design reports, risk assessments, electrical calculations for a wide number or projects. I have learned much about the rail industry, not only the electrical aspects but also about the mechanical and civil aspects of Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), the safety procedures involved when working on the railway, and the processes involved in the design of OLE and other railway systems. The management has underwent major changes since I started here. When I began working here they seemed determined to further my development and provide me with opportunities to obtain qualifications and experience. Since then, less time has been devoted to these pursuits and more time seemingly devoted to closing out the remaining workload. The culture here has been fantastic, I have made a lot of friends and have never been short of help when needed. A lot of social events have been organised between the staff and by the company themselves when a day out at the Grand National races was organised. The hardest part of the job has been the lack or workload at times, there have been times when I have not had much to do at all, which I feel is detrimental to my development. The most enjoyable part of my job has been the work that I have been doing. I have been given responsibilities that were new to me and I feel that this has immensely aided my development and understanding of electrical engineering and rail as a whole.

A typical day has many projects to keep the Project Management team busy but, they can become repetitive due to the nature of the work being maintenance. 
Learned about whole life cost, spend profiles, project management (time, cost & quality), resource levelling. 
Management isn't always the best there are no real organised systems to train and 90% of this is done in a limited manner by shadowing other members of respective teams and self motivated learning, this can be time consuming and mistakes inevitably are made.
Workplace culture although good but largely driven by the people (non managerial) within the company.
The most enjoyable part of the job are the people as they are mostly friendly, extremely helpful, supportive and you are able to learn a lot from them.

was told what office i was working at and drove all over kent would get ther for 8 o.clock wait for post and courier sort deliver all post to relivent floors and office department collect post for internal delivery order couriers do reprographics copying binding laminating etc cover switchboard deliver and sort stationary stock. prepare for mail and courier packages to be collected on time

summary says it all, Very busy from dad to day I was self taught on all areas with little guidance. Management were there for you every day if needed they have an open door policy. I believe that this is a good thing and their support in your choices are strong as they encourage this. Every employee is friendly even though it gets very busy. The hardest part of the job was to make hard choices. and the most enjoyable part was the job its self.

Arrive at work meet with technicians and porters discuss daily tasks answer questions on assignments. Assist in troubleshooting and repairs. Talk with residents about concerns and followup on work orders. work on (Yardi)  work order system and assign/followup with Contractors if necessary and (Payscan ) procurement system. Property drive through. Meet with Community Manager and talk about future projects.

I spent 6 yr in the gas industry which I am proud off as I put a lot into giving my all and achieving my goal set by managers. I found it to be very demanding an some managers required management skill in handling staff an stressful situations but all round a good company to work for and I life lesson for me in the working world

I really enjoyed working for Balfour Beatty, my work colleague were a great goup of people. I learned at lot about customer satisfaction and  working to deadlines.  I found management to be a bit out of touch with their employees.  The most enjoyable part of my job was getting  customer satisfaction and growing relationships with providers and clients.

Learned lots about the gas business and working as a team. Being out on site.learning by watching the teams and dealing with unhappy customers vulnerable customers and the general public and buisnesses also traffic management and road closures and safety while out on site covering the North west of England. 

very political environment.  leadership motivated by ego needs and ambition to take credit for successes and point the finger at others for failures.  Extremely critical environment and very unsociable leadership and team.  Poor understanding of local marketplace.  No empathy for employees.  Would not recommend to work for them.

Well outlined timelines with daily start of work.
Good material procurement guidelines and quick.
Management could be more supportive with new comers.
Subordinates & peers need to be also supportive.
The hardest part of the job was the late safety precautions which sometimes even delayed the work progress.
