After ten years I have absolutely no complaints about my stay at B-C.  In fact, only one other job in my fifty year career has felt more comfortable. 

For me it started as semi-retirement from a hectic computer consulting career, but it became so enjoyable and rewarding that I have postponed full retirement five times, and even now on the bench, I think nothing of rushing to the rescue when they approach me with an emergency assignment, stepping up to save the day (maybe). Every shift is an opportunity to make a difference. It no longer feels like work.

B-C has given me the skills to handle any situation, and I am confident knowing that they have my back in every emergency - 24/7.

Never have I ever felt more like family than at Barber-Collins. We can draw as much satisfaction as we want from this job - put as much into it as we want, taking all we could ever want out of it. 

They are professionals, and after a few adrenaline-pumping emergencies, we too become professionals - because it's important.

A typical day at work consists of over seeing the site and reporting.
Monitoring systems such as winpak and fire panel and outlook.
The management is polite and respectful to all staff. Not biased towards any persons. Co-workers are polite and curteous. The hardest part of the job is the amount of traffic throughout the location. When situations arise you have to remain calm and focused to stay on task and deal with multiple issues at once. The most enjoyable part of the job is probably the fact that it is scheduled shifts throughout a 2 week period.

Barber Collins Security is an okay company in terms of job postings but there is zero chance to grow. Only chances to go to other sites and no where pays very well at all. The majority of work sites you can be placed at have minimum wage or close to. I have been with the company almost 6 years and still do not make what I am worth to the site I am at.  That being said my operations manger is fantastic. Very fair and works hard for supervisors and guards under his management.

Nothing was good working with them

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Going ineveryday; no support from Head Office.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
If you were one of the boys you would advance; women forget it

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Where the sire was was great.  Employees all worked together

The overall management and work enviroment was not bad at all, Management would do what they could in order to satisfy guard but in the end of the day the security industry as a whole doesn't have any real ceiling for guards.  Good for retiree's or parttime but not a career

-hardest part of the job is to work through a 12 hour shift
-most enjoyable part of the job is to receive the pay stub

A team and manager that did not facilitate the needs of her team. She would not hold herself or members of her team accountable. I would get written up for things that her cousin who was in a lesser position would not get written up for (wearing a hat when first entering the building, wearing cologne ect. )

I would show up to work every night knowing what my responsibilities where. It was very interesting working in a high end office building that was under construction. There was limited contact with management and co-workers but when there was a need for it they were all professionals.

Was able to travel to different areas to do security work, met a lot of people, was always learning something new and worked under very minimal supervision, so learned some management skills as well

Days are long 
Learned how to handle different situations
Managers were good and knew what the job duties were
Coworker also knew duties
The hardest were the long sifts
The enjoyable were the company interactions
