Working at Barco Materials Handling is not for the faint of heart you must go in there knowing everyone expects to you to give 110% every day, and thats how you make great money. If you are determined to work hard determined to self improve and show initiative everyday! You'll be just fine. 

It's heavy work, it's fast-paced work, but the environment is unmatched in any other workplace you will not find another working environment like this. Everyone knows your name! And the owners of the company walk the grounds everyday, and they are easy to talk to and supper friendly.


Benefits with this company need to be upgraded in my opinion.

You can make anywhere between $17 an hour to $27 (if your making 27 an hour your really working for it don't expect to get paid 27 if your not pulling your weight)

Your fellow coworkers are easy going and will poke fun at you from time to time but it makes work less like work and more like that family reunion dinner.

The employers make it clear from the start you are disposable. Unrealistic attendance protocols for such a physical labor intense job should not be allowed. The toxic wood dust is one of the worst things for your lungs and overall health.  I have no idea how this place is still running and how they can operate on such poor and mismanaged  working conditions. Most of the management staff has no idea what the workers actually do and how demanding it is on your body and they make it clear they don't care either. The pay varies, some weeks it great, others it is not and because of that its hard to financially plan. If you work on the nailer, your pay depends on other people and their ability to keep up or work fast, if you have a bad or slow team, you make almost no money that pay period. There is also barely any training, learn as you go and get very, very frustrated along the way. Don't waste your time and work anywhere else, somewhere that actually has the potential to move you forward in life, not make you regret taking the job.   

A company that does not care nor respect their employees. You will not receive training on the machine and be expected to perform flawless because everyone else's wage rate is affected by your incompetence. If you don't leave work everyday sore and angry, you probably aren't making much more than base rate and that's the truth. Only the lead operator of the machine can make the team money yet everyone can deduct money. Not even going to touch on their HR "Manager". Steer clear, something else will come up. 

A typical day is always busy as you have to keep the machine running to make money via piecework production. Downtime is not desirable and most be minimized at all cost. I enjoy the aspect of changeover setup as it is technical in nature which I will consider as one I enjoy most. The aspect that stress me out is when it's nonstop all night. That takes a toll on me for the rest of the week.

Worked here for 6 years, easily the worst place I've ever worked at. Disorganized, no training and poor management. Whoever wrote the 5 star review is lying to you and must be management. Pay is ok if you're willing to deal with the garbage management and HR. You're disposable from the get go and there is no moving up or moving forward. If you need good cash for a season, work anywhere else. It's not the physical labour that gets you, it's the lack of ventilation for the wood dust going straight into your lungs and causes health issues if you work there long enough. Overall it's not worth it in the long run. 

The pay is good and hours are good, you can work overtime depending on how busy they are and they have both day and night shifts. Supervisors are easy to talk to, and they give you a boot allowance to get started.  

After 3 months you get your benefits which are pretty good,  coworkers are cool, if you are looking for a place to can earn a good wage for a honest days work you will fit right in. 

They have BBQ's in the summer and some free shirts and stuff, and yearly bonuses which help out.  


Was fired a week before my probation period with no reasoning other than , "You aren't the right fit". Company is cheap, will do anything to cut costs. Including firing you if it benefits them. It's decent pay, if the machines decide they want to work well all week. Go work for a company that actually cares about your existence and contributions. Avoid this trap!

Barco is a great company to work for, I have been here for two years now.  While some of the work can be challenging, the support provided really helps to guide you and make it easier.  They have encouraged professional development, with a value on continuous learning which benefits both you and them. Overall my experience working at Barco has been positive. 

Jobs are boring and repetitive
Almost zero training or support from management (nights are worse)
The attendance system is absurd and punishes those who have family problems or live far away
HR is useless
Food options are bare-bones on nights
