A typical day at work would be trying to figure out whether your papers would come on time or whether you'd have to scramble, they'd often leave the papers out behind my mom's car where'd they'd get soaked. I didn't learn much other than the fact that people don't generally care about getting the newspaper and how to be more efficient.The management sometimes took days to respond to emails and would completely disregard things like needing more elastics. There wasn't much "culture." 

The hardest part was how unreliable they were, how terrible the pay was, and how bad the weather was each time (though that was out of their hands.) I worked three routes and only got paid 60$, dropped down to two routes and only got 20$. Often the paper would come randomly through the day or very close to the end, leaving us scrambling. I got caught in rainstorm after rainstorm and a snowstorm at one point.

Would not recommend.

i would and will continue to let people know how the Barrie Advance treats and does not pay their carriers what they deserve. They forget to pay the correct amount owed and are sure to with hold what is owed for weeks.  They claim it was a mistake week after week.  Oddly enough they never over paid.  The distribution reps that are supposed to support and guide the people who deliver the papers for pennies instead abuse accuse and ignore them.  to all parents who think delivering papers would be a good lesson of responsibility for their children.  Instead the children will learn how people manipulate steal and degrade them.

Worst place, does not pay well. I was told I would be making 15$-20$ First 2 weeks I got paid that. Now 10$ every week. They really don't consider the amount of work the goes to putting the deliver together than delivering it the way they want it! We should get paid for that! They say keep the news paper in good shape yet the people who deliver throw it from 8 feet away. This is a joke, and I only recommend this if your desperate for a job or want it for your resume. It's so stressful, a part time job is easier and that say a lot. Next week is my last week. The people I deliver for are all angels, you guys are amazing, it was nice to see all your smiling faces it made it less stressful!

a typical day at work is once a week for me i deliever the paper and flyers my job is to put the all together. my manager is great she friendly and always helpfull when i call about a question. i dont now my coworks since i dont work in the actuall building. the hardest part about this job is putting all the flyers and papers together and delivering them. but i enjoy evry second of it i get a chance tpo meet new people in my community and talk to them about whats happening in the papper.

The Barrie advance team sends you a boatload of papers every week which you have to sort and put together this takes about 1 hour if you are going fast. Then you have to deliver to each house in a dry and secure order. The pay is horrible and it is a good job for 3 year olds who want to make 10 dollars every two weeks. Overall horrible company to work with, don’t waste your time applying. Find somewhere else.

Only takes 30 minutes! Fun walk, and great talks with the neighborhood!

Traveling through the weather such as snow, hail, rain, or seriously hot heat summer days.

Relaxed, and go at your own pace.

The people. The staff. All around great people and everyone worked as a team.

Deadlines. But we always meet them.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, always busy. There was never a day you had nothing to do.

The hardest part of my job was delivering the papers to the customers because on Tuesday they weren't really that thick or heavy but on Thursday the papers would always be thick and heavy so it would take me about 2 hours just to deliver them. The thing I liked most about Barrie Advance is how at the end of every month they would have a draw and you could win prizes and they would wish you a happy birthday when it was your birthday.

Got back to me on my application quickly (A few days after call), and very reasonable on salary. There was miscommunication at first over amount of papers delivered. It was supposed to be thirty (30) papers, but my first two (2) weeks I was delivering seventy-five (75) approx.
Ultimately, it was a good way to get my foot through the door.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I sorted out the fliers for the newspapers and delivered them around the neighborhood. Each newspaper carried works alone on this so I didn't have a chance to experience much of the workplace culture or management, but I never had any problems.
