Bavaria used to be THE dealership in Edmonton to work at. From the top down, the culture and family like atmosphere was phenomenal. All departments worked together harmoniously. We weren’t there to squeeze every last penny out of the customer but to help them with whatever they needed. The important thing was that the customer went away happy with plans to return when their next need arose. That all changed when a stereotypical “used car salesman” slick talked his way in which ultimately led to the sad departure of the unsuspecting owner. From the time this guy, squeezed his way into the Sale Manager’s spot, took the GM seat and through self promotion, became the dealer principal, the internal culture and public image went into a nosedive. I have personally heard him say how he feels the employees are “entitled” and if they don’t like his way, “he can put an ad out and fill their positions with cheaper people that will show him the respect he deserves.” It’s disgusting to look back on and see what has happened. Where once employees stayed there for 10-15+ years, now it’s a typical meat grinder where pulling every possible dime out of anyone who walks in is expected. They’ve gone from being one of the top rated dealers in the country to one of BMW Canada’s embarrassments. Stay away.

I worked at Bavaria BMW as an Appointment Coordinator, and the team I worked with directly was honestly incredible. It’s a very fast paced environment, but the people around me made it easy to keep up. Most of the dealership is filled with supportive, hardworking, genuinely good people who treat each other with respect.

The benefits were great too. Having discounted maintenance on your own vehicle was a real perk, and the overall atmosphere in the dealership was positive

Bad management from the sales mangment down. They only care about how inventory can be moved, and not necessarily about building relationships. If you were ever working with a client but another associate sold them on your day off, your out of luck. To them the sale is done so they won as managers. They almost praise brown nosing in that sense. 

Sometimes the client isn’t always necessarily right, but will throw you under the bus to save themselves. After working here I can see why there is so much employee turnover. One manager never wants to get up out of his office to help, while the other is super moody, and is always on a emotional trip of some sort. Plus they gave me the run around during the hiring process.  A complete waste of my time.

The people you work with on a day to day in the shop and on the used side are great.

 However there is a huge management and owner issue here they will cut any corners to not pay you and you have 0 job security or heads up if they decide they don't want a position or someone there anymore.

I worked there over a year and was constantly screwed over with pay and couldn't advance at all also money they promise you will never come don't trust his much they talk up the place and forget about any overtime you work you won't get a dime for it.

As a technician, your day mainly consists of making sure the parts you need aren't there, the advisors don't want to sell anything, and the music makes you psychotic. However, if you are able to keep your head in your bay, live on the ignorant side and make sure management doesn't roll back on promises, then you will make 100K+ and come home without and work. The culture is almost non-existent and the music is mind bendingly destructive to any sane person...be prepared.

The people who work here are great.  However management is absolutely horrible.  Worst people I have ever worked for.  Employees are treated as disposable, and you walk in every day wondering if you will be fired, just because someone felt like it.

Management treats people like garbage, and will freak out over the smallest things.  The place is run like a high school mean-girls club.  If you fit in, you might be okay, but you still need to watch your back constantly.  If you don't, you will be out faster than you can say BMW.

STAY AWAY!

In my opinion this is a very poor place to work. They do not follow labour laws and will try to force you to sign papers to give up your rights. They post company "values", while not following . They lack integrity, communication and support. I am very surprised the doors are still open. Save yourself the head ache and work any other place don't even interview here, the amount of turn over they have speaks volumes

Could be a good place to work and was a few years ago. The staff are not paid properly for work; They, are Forced to work overtime with no pay. Numerous labour laws are not followed, But if you complain you will be let go for other reasons. Company recently aquired by go auto, so hopefully they will make some changes and talk to the staff to find out what changes are required.

Joined this company over 5 years ago, I have been able to move up during my time here. The owner has put a large focus on his people and customers. The culture is changing for the better and it is a great place to work. I look forward to being part of this team for a long time to come.

There are certain positions overpaid. General Manger is destroying the culture and barely knows anyones name. Garbage customer service and everyone is ill trained. Wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. Their controller literally has power and influence over the GM.
