This job is okay.  But lack of training and poor management is why instead of making plastics, they should do pastries like a bakery as they make better turnovers.  They turn over the majority of people because they do not want to pay the benefits even though they were an exemplary worker.  Training:  I got trained for 7 day of 10 as agreed then to continental shifting.  Or people would train me figures I "got it" then do another job and if I had questions no one to ask unless it's a supervisor.  The jobs are okay, I did okay to my thought but okay is not good enough.  Average people, high expectations.  You can work hard and show up everyday but it doesn't mean anything nowadays.  If they tone down the head up the derriere attitude, people would stick and no need to train 10 people a month.  Now I get they are quality driven but quantity should be relaxed too.

A typical day at work for me depended on which job I was doing. If I was Machine operator I would have needed to wear my PPE, my focus was to meet cycle times observe all quality expectations, and interact with my team members. As a grinding technician I would have to do everything as a machine operator but in addition I needed to focus also on: Not mixing materials, following all safety procedures ie. lockout/tagout, labelling and sort materials, and at the end of the day making the work area clean for the next grinding technician. I always found upper management and HR to be supportive of whatever goals I wished to attain.

Used to be a decent company for the locals to have a long term career

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management change in 2022 led to the downfall of the company. There was a lot of mismanagement, favouritism and reckless decisions taken by the new management that reduced cashflow, caused a lot of issues and suffering of the employees. Environment and culture became toxic, leading to many of their best employees leaving the company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Used to be a casual, friendly environment, but turned toxic in the last few months

I was at school full time and needed a job so applied and got the job 8 hr midnight shift (production). When I applied made sure they knew my situation and told them that school came first, they accepted . So after 4 weeks of me going to school 8am-4 pm and then working 11pm-7am they decided to fire me because I called in and told them I had way too much homework to come into work 2 days in a row. I would not recommend working here .

Worked there for 3 months, never got my paperwork for benefits. Got injured in my first two months (which conveniently they "lost" the paperwork proving it) and was supposed to be on modified duty. They never put me on modified duty. They repeatedly put me on increasingly faster machines, and then when I asked about my benefits, I was fired for being "too slow" even though I was faster than several workers there even with my shoulder injury. Never apply here

Terrible hours! Was told on the phone it was shift work but assured me it was Monday to Friday and then once I trained a week I was put on 12 hour continental and they said once it got slow I would be on 8 hours shifts again?? 10 months later and nope! Switch you plant to plant. Just mess with your life. Treat you like a number not a person! 

Baytech was incredibly stressful to work at with half the things they asked you to do like making 2 Brita jugs every 26 secs or looking of defects on the inside of black parts without proper lighting at a high pace all for 16.52 an hour and that's gone up a $1.50 since I started and was let go over my mental health

I enjoyed working at Baytech, always learning something new. Also work with others and on your own, equal balance. To many bosses with different advice and instruction in the workplace which was difficult.I was told one thing and it was not the case while I was off and my messages were not being passed to who it needed to. 

Life at Baytech is like any other large manufacturing company. It has it ups and downs and political BS. If you go in do your job to the best of your ability and keep out of the politics you been just fine. The only negative thing it's a union environment. And the union there sucks and only protects the ones who shouldn't be there.

management do not respect their workers and demand shorter cycle times for all the workers in order to try to boost their output putting maximum pressure on the workers
