A typical day for me starts at 7:30am and begins with approximately an hour’s worth of organizing and filing the previous day’s paperwork. After everything has been put away in binders, I compile a list of tasks that need to be completed by the end of the day. My tasks are quite varied and I never seem to do the same thing twice on a daily basis – this makes my time management and problem solving skills an asset. Once my list is complete I begin working on my day. I typically take my lunch break at 11:30 and spend it at Goodlife Fitness in Eau Claire Market for a quick workout. This allows me to be back in the office by 12:30 to begin my afternoon. I then work away to ensure my daily tasks are complete and head home at 4:00pm.

As I am currently two years into my Production Accounting career, I am still learning new things every day. I have gained competent experience with programs such as Prism, Qbyte, CS Explorer, Petrinex and PVR; however, I am eager to gain more advanced knowledge and to continue to further my expertise. I am excited to learn more about these programs and about the industry in general as I progress through my career.

The management team at Baytex have been helpful and supportive overall in getting me started with my Production Accounting career. Both management and I agree that I am ready for more responsibility in a Production Accounting role; unfortunately, there is simply no room for advancement with Baytex at this time. I feel as though now is the right time for me to advance to the next level of Production Accounting and I’m very eager to get started.

My colleagues at Baytex are all friendly and supportive of each other. I have only had positive experiences with my colleagues.

The hardest part of my job is time management as I’m often balancing several different tasks that all need to completed by a specific deadline. This type of environment has quickly forced me to prioritize, work quickly and efficiently and manage my time successfully. I feel that I have become a time management expert.

The most enjoyable part of my job is the work-life balance. I enjoy the consistent 7:30-4:00 work day; however, I am always willing and available to work overtime when required. I take responsibility for my work and do work past my set hours to ensure the work is complete if necessary.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The shift is nice, they're fairly flexible if you need to leave early/come in late for personal appointments from time to time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is selected by who you're fiends with, no your qualifications. In other words they couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag. Management in my region and head office don't want feedback, and will often do the exact opposite if feedback is given. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bottom of industry wages, safety is important only if it doesn't cost money or time. No consideration given to how weather may affect productivity. Maintenance program is run to failure so things are often broken or almost broken. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working 7/7 shift, 12 hour days.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing
Learn how to kiss the the higher ups if you know what I mean.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Expect 12 hrs. For 9 hrs. Of pay.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful, no support from bosses, unless you kiss them you’re on your own.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Awful, like I said no support, work environment is terrible, don’t fix anything till it’s broken.

The company is a great starter company for someone starting out operating. High paced work environment and always changing work scope. Would be nice if pay was up to rest of industry for contracters as its quite low and training is next to non existent other than that good fellow workers and management is great will miss this place.

Hardest part of the job is trying to not hang yourself.
Most enjoyable part of the job is the drive home.

Began as a short contract while Baytex was transition from Prism to Metrix.  I enjoyed the people, the great learning opportunity and the company.  A very close group of people and who all worked well together.  It was a great fit for all.  A Great Company to work for.

Motivational and rewarding on a daily bases. The experience I gained will propel my future career and benefit my future employer.  The work environment was positive with vast amounts of experience right next door willing to provide guidance and share knowledge.

very good work environment, people are good and management is good . the people are the most enjoyable. The hardest part of the job was learning new equipment and procedures with limited support.

Baytex has been a stable company for a long time.  However, Baytex is not growing, so internal opportunities to advance are limited.  Executive management is very strong.
