BI was a good place to start but definitely not to stay long term. It is ok to gain some experience and then move onto something better. You got training with each client you work with to make sure you are comfortable working with them alone in their home. Some good days, some bad days with tough clients and managing behaviours with little support in home. Regular skype/face time sessions to provide feedback on IT skills. Some higher ups were unreliable (did not show up or call) with scheduled Skype calls or meeting in homes for overlap/support. Some higher ups could make you feel as if you can't do anything right, talk in condescending tone. Small regular raises but overall low pay with no benefits, there are other companies that provide ABA services with higher salary potential. Travel was a bit too much at times, at times you work all day with no break although you do get paid for travel time. Stability of hours varied as clients would sometimes take time off and cancel sessions ahead of time which then you would not get paid and would try to get extra hours from other clients. Most clients and families were amazing :) !


I am truly grateful to Behaviour Innovations. My previous experience with ABA at a different workplace left me apprehensive due to numerous strict protocols. It felt like facing a daily test, leading to demotivation and a lack of rewards for an already stressful job. However, my perspective on ABA changed significantly with Behaviour Innovations. While ABA primarily focuses on using reinforcement to teach children with autism, I learned that adults also benefit from reinforcement. I received individualized training for each child, along with clear expectations. My seniors provided unwavering support, consistently offering praise for positive actions and providing constructive feedback that felt like constructive guidance rather than personal attacks. The kindness and understanding of my co-workers further contributed to a positive and fulfilling work environment. Furthurmore, seeing students benefit from the service that we provide is also an additional reward.

Placement student here . I took my placement at behaviour innovations Etobicoke . I enjoyed how they trusted me to incorporate ibi strategies and run programs however I found management cold . I also found the work environment very claustrophobic as there is limited space . It was great to be able to run the programs however very little training. I know I was only a placement student but I felt like I did not get a good understanding on what To actually do . I am now hired by another company as an instructor therapist and I feel like their training was a lot more informative and the salary is better (I was told from employees that the salary was terrible). If people called in sick, a instructor had to take on 2 clients at the same time . I did not see much progress with the kids while I was there (6 months) 

Little to no training before you work directly in the homes of clients by yourself, often times with no parents home. Not given the appropriate training for behaviours that occur and senior facilitators give no support. While there is the flexibility for many hours or as little as 6 hours, there is a high turn around of staff which causes the staffing coordinator to consistently ask if you can fit more clients even outside of your availability. While the BCBAS are educated and knowledgeable the senior therapists do not seem to have much education and knowledge in the autism field. 
If you’re looking for job experience in the field, it’s a good job for short term. If you’re looking to learn within the field, think again. 

This place is constantly fuelled by crisis. They are operating by the skin of their teeth. If someone calls in sick, the clients are doubled and tripled with one staff, while their parents pay for one on one staffing. The upper management have a massive superiority complex that at times can be degrading. They consistently make front of the line staff feel as  though they can't do anything right. And don't stand up for yourself, they will take it out on you in the schedule. They also have a tendency to play favourites, ignore seniority, and to over promise and under deliver as far as advancement within the company. A number of co-worker were promised promotions or to be "next in line" only to see someone else be put before them. Job Culture got 3 stars only due to some staff supporting each other through tough days.

Ran 2 sessions each day. Three and a half hours of intensive therapy based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. I learned all the technical aspects of IBI. Learned about reinforcement schedules,punishment techniques, to collect and record data etc. Learned to work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. Applied behaviour protocols to decrease problem behaviours and increase adaptive behaviours. 
Supportive work environment from staff. Enjoyed working a lot with the children and to see them and their families happy from the benefits of IBI therapy.

Overall it is a great introduction to the ABA world with autism, however many practices they use are outdated (hands down, they interrupt stimming, they use mass trials), and they don't provide crisis intervention until you need it. People been put in the hospital by clients, and then offered support. Regular raises, and the kids you work with are amazing. If there's any misunderstanding with a client, you are at fault. If you don't know something in the field or understand a program, it is your fault. No benefits. Turnover is very high.

I had a terrible experience with one specific psychologist working here. It actually caused me to leave my job. When I documented and told everything to HR, the response I received was simply "Sorry you feel that way. Thanks for your time with the company". The psychologist was extremely unprofessional and skyped into sessions with clients from her bed, and told clients I was unreliable when I had to take time off while my own daughter was in the hospital. As a company that works for families and serves families, they should value worker's lives and families more.

I've been with the company for a few years now and the work has been highly rewarding. Experience you may have can depend on the team(s) you are assigned to. Some are much more organized and friendly compared to others, but overall great to work with. Some families can be more challenging to work with than others as well, but those are few and far between.

One of the worst places I have ever worked. You work all day without a lunch or a break. This job is extremely mentally and physically demanding. They don't listen to employees concerns until something serious happens ex: someone gets injuried. They are not covered by WSIB. Management is never there and when they are they do not make time to check in with employees. They never have enough staff especially if someone calls in sick. Turnover rate is horrible.
