Stay clear - this place is a liability issue. 

Belvedere used to be a wonderful place to work, until management changed, and the hospitals board of management is taking over. Training is lacklustre, and while it’s preached residents come first, it’s far from the truth. Management does little to protect residents from abuse, and more attention on petty workplace drama. Say the sky is blue, get hauled in to be spoken too. Leave residents unchanged, you’re off scot free. 

If you want never ending hours to work, they’ve got you covered. Or a boss that will look in your face laughing while telling you a blatant lie. If you want a workplace that respects it’s employees and adheres to its collective agreement… run. One reason for the current high rate of staff turnover. 

Good work ethic gets you nowhere in this place. You’ll be leaves short staffed, and be told everyone has a right to work at their own pace, leaving residents to wait hours for their meals. The residents make this job rewarding, the lives you meet and touch, stories you learn, jokes you hear. However, the toxic work environment ultimately cannot be ignored and will destroy your passion

Heartbreaking. You get to spend no quality time w/ residents, their quality of life is a direct reflection of poor management and respect for staff. They hire unqualified nursing staff who brush over serious issues and don’t do their job properly, how nurses who work here still have their license is beyond me and needs to be looked into. Disconnect between management and staff, staffing manager is horrible and will schedule you outside of your avail/behind your back and jeorodize your job at Belvedere. Seriously one of the worst places to work. Look elsewhere.

very nice staff  and calm enviornment

shortage of staff. due to this load of work would be more.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
work environment was calm and from different culture , lots of staff are working there. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
my ist day is memorable day. i cant forget , when i met lots of people at the same time

I've learned how to become a proper PSW through this workplace, but not enough experience before they put me on the floor to try to care for residents on my own. A typical day was just always being on the go which was good, as it made the day go by fast. My favourite parts was when i got to sit down and talk briefly with the residents.

They try to intimidate you not to advocate for your residents. They basically promote burnout. Bedside manner is the least important although they continuously lie about how much they support the residents. 

They are filled with broken promises but once you try to rectify anything or stand up for yourself…you are the problem. 

Toxic environment solely because of management. I  would never recommend my friends or family to work here.

Belvedere  height is a decent  place to work with alot of dedicated  long term employees. 
I wouldn't say it is a fun place to work anymore, however it once was for staff, management and residents. The rate of pay is good for the area and benefits are available to full-time staff and they are fair. If you are looking for a position with lots of available hours and overtime  this job will definitely provide you with that. Management  could do a better  job in boosting the staff  moral. 


if your are international and joining here as part time thinking they will help for paper work STOP they wont help you any. They will give shift when they have shortage but will cut off your regular shift when they do not need you. Extra shifts are based on seniority so if you are new you are not getting any as they have already lots of part-time staff. Always mistake in pay check feels like they want you to work but does not like to pay.
Staff are good but management are worst of worst.

no two days are the same - some good and on par and some stressful

The atmosphere at Belvedere is usually positive, the staff are kind hearted and helpful. The location of the home is at the open sound on Georgian Bay so the sunsets are absolutely gorgeous.
The hardest part of the job is losing the residents that you develop relationships with, inevitably they will die.

Worked for this organization for a number of years. Many kind caring staff who become like a second family. Can't say the same for management. They are unkind and very disrespectful to the employees who work hard to take care of the residents. Very low staff morale due to the treatment they receive from the current management. Many staff are leaving to seek better opportunities in the community.
