There are basically two seasons at work: regular and rush.

The regular season is usually pretty chill. Things move at a slower pace, and sometimes production even wraps up early. People are more relaxed, there’s less pressure, and overall it’s a calm environment to work in.

Then there's rush season, which happens maybe two or three times a year. That’s when things really pick up—shifts are longer, everyone’s moving faster, and the workload definitely ramps up. It can get a bit hectic, but honestly, people tend to be super helpful and in good spirits. Even when it gets busy, the vibe stays positive. Management is easy to talk to and always willing to step in if something comes up, which makes a big difference.

In conclusion, it's a good place to work. The job itself can be a little tough at times, especially if you're not used to cold environments, but it’s nothing a good set of warm clothes can’t fix. Once you're prepared, it’s totally manageable. Whether it’s the laid-back regular season or the busier rush times, there’s a solid team vibe that helps make the work feel worthwhile.

What is the best part of working at the company?
one thing i like about belwwod is that their is only one shift steady days almost every weekend off except 3 weeks before thanksgiving we work saturday and then christmas their might be 2 or 3 saturdays. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
its cold you working in a walk in fridge i have been told the temp. is -10C. their is no set time you are finished. you could finish @ 300pm and the next day finish @ 5:30 ( the latest i have ever seen) this year has been a slow year our hours have been reduced my pay checks have been cut in half. but i do have an E.I. claim going. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
overall its peaceful. you work on a production line. some chit chat have a good time. others just work. i don't see to many young people working here. currently it's an older crowd. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I label boxes so its repetitious work. some heavy lifting is involved.

I think this would be a great place to work if the company showed their current employees (regardless of if they are general labourers, mechanical engineers, office staff, etc.) some appreciation. The heads of this company definitely believe that anyone who works here should dedicate their entire being to this place. They want you to work 50+ hours a week and give 110% of your efforts at all times without any hesitation all while paying you a terrible wage. If you stray from that in the slightest, then you will get fired. Top management will never be satisfied with anything you do for them.

Working here really made a huge impact to my mental health - Consistently going into work every day thinking you’re going to get fired over 1 little mistake will do that to you. Leaving this place was the best decision I ever made. 

Never in my life have I worked at a place with so many blatant health and safety violations on top of horrible management- employees are regularly sabotaged, shouted at and worked to the bone for very little pay. They cut corners and do not provide enough time for employees to switch from being in the evisceration room (which is hot, with no ventilation) into the freezer side, which has caused people to become ill. People are constantly forced to do the work of at least three people due to the company always being short staffed (gee, I wonder why). 

Advice to management/HR: Try actually talking to your employees, address the safety concerns and do something about the supervisors setting people up to fail. This isn’t acceptable.

I loved working there, the management are amazing and the staff is very friendly.
Very knowledgeable, and try to give you as much training as possible. 
I got an accident there and didn’t find anything but total support during what I can say was the toughest time in my entire life. They helped me and tried really well to help me get back on my feet and return to work there. I only have great feeling for belwood poultry from owner to management and also staff; and I would definitely try to work there again in the future.

I was Hired as a shunt driver/shipper in February at the Windsor plant. If you want long hours and no work life balance this is the place for you, If you want a mixed up day where you are constantly  running around like a turkey with your head cut off then this place is right up your alley. If they tell you that they will give you 90 days probation don't believe them, because they gave me 30. If after all that you still want to work there , make sure you sign their paper to work 60 hrs a week, I didn't and I believe that's why they let me go, (they told me it was because of my paperwork, I only had 1 paper to fill)

Those are. Regular working hours? Hmmm don’t know what those are either. Good management? Oh boy…

I seriously do not recommend working here. They take advantage of you & they are usually very short staffed (wonder why) so you have to pull like 12 hour shifts while management gets to work their regular 7-4 job and get paid the big bucks.

Want to be treated like you’re nothing but a number to them? Apply! Or you could apply at other plants like vista print or Magna and be treated like a person!!

Working as a sanitation worker at Belwood Poultry Ltd. in Amherstburg has been a rewarding experience. The job involves maintaining high hygiene standards, and the company provides the necessary tools and training to perform these tasks effectively. The team is supportive, and management is approachable, creating a positive work environment. While communication regarding shift changes could be improved, overall, it’s a solid workplace with a collaborative atmosphere.

Am always looking forward to each new day at work, i do love my job and am always ready to help, interact, learn new skills and new procedures

The job itself isn't bad, but some of the worst management I've ever experienced at any company I've ever worked for. Will continuously look for ways to screw people over.
 Power engineers beware, only come here if you really need a short term job. You will be used and taken advantage of at every opportunity possible by a tyrannical management who absolutely knows everything in the world yet nothing at the same time.
