Ben Thanh Restaurant

Ben Thanh is a great place to work for people who are looking for a job that will give them skills in customer service, initiative, team work, and planning/organization. As a student, I found this job to be incredibly easy to balance with school and volunteering. The hours are very flexible and it is easy to get shifts switched around if you need to. The environment is also very fun. Once you get acquainted with the other workers, the work environment allows friendships to foster and a support system among the staff is created. Although there are great reasons to work here, one downfall is the lack of management. The management here lacks a cohesive sense of direction and there is a lack of authority. The managers are not always on the same page which causes workers to be inconsistent in their job and because of the lack of authority by the managers, workers do not respect them or follow instructions.

A typical day concluded of cleaning the kitchen, main restaurant area, cleaning the bathrooms and washing lots of dishes. My experiance at Ben Thanh was definantly one of my favorite it was very rewarding, very fast passed, and overwhelming. It taught me that no matter how hard your day feels it can become 4x faster in a matter of minutes so get your job done right the first time and you will be able to see the rewards of a very steady day in no time.

Working at this restaurant is only for those who are dedicated to working hard and putting 110% into every day to meet whatever needs the day calls for. This job is stressful, but the reason I rate it highly is because you will form bonds with your coworkers that go beyond a simple job. After a while the management treated me and joked around that I was a son to them. They genuinely care about you as more than just an employee.

Beginning of the shift we are assigned to our task and chores. 
Deal with customers food and beverage orders. 
Hardest part, is dealing with a customer that is being unreasonable, irate and non accepting of solutions. 
Enjoyable part, receiving good feedback and gratuity for my service.

A typical day at work consist of morning food preparation. Refilling ingredients and cleaning surface areas to safety standards.Some skills I learned while working at Ben Thanh are food handling skills and customer service skills.

A typical day at work would be really busy between 12-3pm then a lil bit of down time 4-5 but we would have to keep busy. Then it would be busy again between 5-8:30 pm and then we would start cleaning up

Great atmosphere with some of the smartest people I've ever had the pleasure to work with! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a job in a  fast environment industry

I learn a lot over there, the most of them is customer service experience, like how to service customer, how to be a member of a team

It is a good place to work as a high school student and start your working career. Has friendly workers and and OK manager.

The management is great and everyone is nice to work with. Get free food and drinks for the shift and with unpaid break. Has the uniform to wear which is really nice.
