Benson Tire

Solid company with huge potential and should be the force to recon with in the industry in Ontario, However,  it is being micro managed to death.
Many many great talented individuals are burning out or have already left the organization due to the constant needless stress being put on them.
I look forward to the day upper management realizes these people should not be viewed as an expense but as an asset...once they do and I'm sure they will, Benson Tire will be the dominant player in the market 



Benson is a large company that is one of the largest sales and service companies that specializes in sales and service to the automotive and truck industries in Ontario and Quebec with stores and shops located in most towns and cities. My job was selling new and retread tires to the trucking industry. The job was great calling on fleet customers. Management was to be desired but was able to work with them in a pretty relaxed culture. 

Slow decision making. Loss of business due to old mentality. Vision is not in tune with strategy. Marketing process very poor. Team Leaders not in sync with front line managers providing customer service. Vision does not provide for home runs. Since no strategy no tracking or follow-up to performance. No performance standards. Throw keys at you and tell you to go. No individual feedback process.Terrible communication from head office to field.

company has huge lack of consistency, structure and organization. Upper management shows minimal support and follow through on follow through and needs for their stores. No employee appreciation and minimal advancement or any at all. The moral and employee outlook is negative towards the company and it's upper management.

Typical Day: Unloading trailers of tires and placing them in the distribution center. Dealing with returns and the occasional customer.
What I learnt: Tire distribution
Management: Could of been better - less emotional.
Workplace Culture: Steady, people knew what they were doing.
The hardest part of the job: Putting up with the occasional immaturity of certain employees.
The most enjoyable part of the job: Was a job well done.

A typical day can vary and change quickly. Responding to customer's needs to covering territory and maintaining relationships with existing and new clients. Fleet maintenance and on vehicle product inspection and reporting. Utilizing the vast company network to provide service anywhere, anytime to completely satisfy our customer's needs

A physically demanding job on certain busy days but the teamwork gets the workload completed. 40 hours a week with health a dental benefits is a definite plus once you pass your 3 month probabation period. All in all a great place to work.

Physically enjoyable, fast paced .
Good work environment.
Hardest part would be staying ahead of schedule however time passes quickly with such a fast paced job.
Looking to increase skills and knowledge to advance in future positions.

It starts with honesty and a loyalty to all of us at Benson. We are focused on our customers, team work and open communication. We can agree to disagree so that we can all learn to grow and embrace change. Status quo is not an option but we do have fun and are humble.

Not a bad place to work, staff are very friendly and the managers are OK too. Benefits could be way better and a pension plan would go a long way.  Hopefully they will come around. At the end of the day it's a stable job with not bad pay..
