The current operational landscape of the organization suggests a certain degree of disconnect within the management, particularly evident in the apparent neglect of the Canadian arm of the business. My observations indicate a significant amount of time spent addressing concerns related to interpersonal dynamics between employees and their respective managers. Notably, there is a prevailing sentiment that project managers have not effectively fostered a collaborative work environment. Instead of promoting equitable distribution of responsibilities, there appears to be a tendency among project managers to shift tasks disproportionately onto those already carrying a substantial workload.

This misallocation of work has resulted in a notable disparity in the distribution of responsibilities, contributing to an environment where certain individuals within various departments lack proficiency in their roles. Consequently, the burden of compensating for these deficiencies falls upon the shoulders of other team members. The overall consequence is a pervasive inefficiency that hinders the collective productivity of the workforce.

An issue of particular concern is the lack of recognition for the efforts exerted by dedicated employees who consistently contribute above and beyond their expected responsibilities. This discrepancy between the acknowledgment of contributions and the actual workload undertaken by individuals poses a challenge to employee morale and motivation. In my initial interview, I was made aware of the necessity to address productivity gaps within the team. However, the acknowledgment that these efforts might go unnoticed was not explicitly communicated.

As an operator at Bentall you have opportunities to build your skills. Most building operators work inside and don’t have a lot of physically or mentally demanding tasks.   There is some growth potential in earnings. 
Management was pretty good in my opinion. 
They pay for all safety courses and technical courses that benefit the company. 
The only issue with the company is that they don’t reward employees who are loyal to the business.  They don’t allow current employees to interview for new openings. They “say” they hire within.  Instead, they look outside the company for new managers or promotions. It would have been worth seeing bentall offering mentoring programs or cross training between departments.  That way they could foster new growth and ideas within the organization. 

It’s a good place if you want a pay Cheque, simple work, and you don’t want to work in the cold. 
There are a lot of menial tasks and also- you should expect to be comfortable with unclogging toilets regularly if you work in the downtown portfolio. Overall, I found it boring after 4 years and didn’t see any reason to stay.   Also, my immediate manager told me the upper level managers wanted to find a way to get rid of operators to reduce cost.
I have no regrets working for Bentall but I probably wouldn’t go back.

I started with BentallKennedy in June of 2014.  When I was brought into the company in the role of a Community Manager I was mislead as far as the duties of my job.  The site was left in a mess and I had the responsibility of cleaning up someone else s  mess.  It was very difficult but I worked very hard to get it to a good place.  The residents were very unhappy with the new management and I had to find a way to turn their opinions around.  It was very taxing but in a period of a few months I was starting to turn their opinions around. Their arrears were at $150,000 and in a 8 month period I was able to bring them down to $20,000.  Just as things were starting to turn around I was suddenly told that I was terminated.  If I were point out the negativity of this company I would say that Upper Management shows little or no support to their employees.  They are very disorganized and put the burden of the load on the staff site.   I worked hard   I learned so much in the short time that I was there.The company is very disorganized.     The most challenging part of my job was to resolve issues with residents in a professional manner, especially due to the fact that the residents were very demanding.  I was made promises that never came to fruition which I feel would have given me the tools to perform better.  I was not given the chance to show my skills as they terminated me without any reason.  They had already fired two other managers prior to me.   On a positive note I had a great team in place and they were very supportive and always willing to help out whenever necessary.

As part of the property management team you never know how the day will begin.  When I first entered this type of business I had no idea what I was in for.  Throughout the years I have gained much knowledge on the day to day functions of shopping centres and how they function.

I started in this business as a Receptionist moving my way to Purchasing and Administration and now currently an Accounts Coordinator for Bentall Kennedy.

Things are not repetitive.  Every position and job has its main duties but there is always a change on a daily business.   It has always interested me to learn more of the duties of the General Manager along with Operations Manager.  I have involved myself where I could be of assistant to the management to learn more.

You never know how you will start the day in property management.  Along with the daily duties of answering phone calls, running Accounts Receivable Reports, Deposit and Sales Reports, there are many things that can happen in a day which makes the job interesting.  There are things such as fire, HVAC units not working, accidents, thefts and plumbing issues that are not scheduled.  It is events like this that keep me wanting to grow and learn more about different fuctions of the office and building and working with a team to come to the best results in satisfying tenant and customer needs.

A typical day at work consists of engaging and interacting with countless individuals. It's an interesting and constantly developing environment. There's a consistent need to know how to address situations and communicate on various levels. It's a learning experience in terms of understanding how to keep a balance between professionalism and a personal touch, a need for personalization within a corporate framework of rules and regulations. It's this homeostasis that creates an optimal approach in the line of the guest services work regimen. In terms of management, there's a clear understanding of what's required and a sufficient knowledge base that was provided for us in order to perform our tasks and duties. The culture is built upon sustainable relationships as well as homely ones. It's a matter of balance of respect and understanding. Hard times consist of satisfying the customer complaints through mere informative and empathetic approaches without tangible implementation of the solution, while the joy comes from bringing comfort and satisfying their need to know, and reassurance through communicating potential solutions to be considered and/or implemented.

I have been here many years without advancement or any raises beyond the yearly standard of living increments. The management is all into playing head games, picking favorites and working you to the bone if you are not one of them. No work life balance although they preach it all the time. It really depends who you get as a manager and if you suck up to them or not. If you know how to play the game you will be fine. I'm here because of my family situation but I would leave in a heartbeat if I could. Beware of the site offices as managers are allowed to basically do whatever they want and all have their favorites. A total good old boys atmosphere.  Also they pay well below other companies and will give you a lower tittle so they can pay you less but you have to do the work of a higher tittle with no appreciation or compensation. Benefits are good. Head office doesn't bother to visit site offices so have no clue what goes on. Bottom dollar is all anyone cares about. More work since Sunlife took over -Definite Scare Culture.

The company provides great job opportunities and experience.  The opportunity for training and education is highly valued and company pays for courses.  The pay is fair. 
The work load was heavy and higher management was not concerned about the work load on the employees.  Employees need to work lots of overtime to get things completed without compensation or recognition.  The current General manager for Winnipeg did not help out the staff which caused other managers & employees to pick up the load and work long hours.  Managers had little time for their staff and didn't want to be disturbed.  The staff got burnt out quickly and were frequently sick.  
Workplace harassment issues went unresolved which made for a unhealthy work place.  The communication was poor and staff were never included on big decision making items that would affect them.
If the work load was properly distributed and the managers were more supportive the company would be great to work for.

Very complicated company to work for and to get paid from. While working for them I spent much time trying to compile information to prove out of pocket expenses that I should be paid.Then I had more questions from them come up after a long time had past. 

I had problems booking vacation with this company as they don't tell you that it is cleared and make it almost job threatening to insist. I had many problems getting solid answers for vacation requests and was often turned down after some time had gone by. Everything had to be in writing because the forget they cleared you for the vacation and change their mind.  I found Bentall Kennedy to be a very stressful company to work with and it caused stress on my family as well.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, it is just too stressful and not healthy

It started out fine but after realizing that every Executive assistant didn't last more than a year I started to wonder why.

I was assistant to two people to start off-- Vice President and Director of leasing. Subsequently, I was also the office manager, IT department, 3rd persons assistant (all busy executives with presentations and proposals), operations department, website administrator and brochure creator and the list kept going on and on. To top it off, these were typical executives who changed their minds after every draft you spent the day completing on rush and were very rude and would actually snap at you and others all day long. 

I do not suggest working in Edmonton as an EA for this company. Too much drama and not enough money for the headache. 

I heard the last EA died in relation to stress.

My typical day at work involves making sure all the tenants needs are met.
I have learned the systems which operate the building such as boilers, cooling towers and all the components which work within the system.
The management team within Bentall  kennedy is a very positive one. They always listen to suggestions put forth by the building operators.
All the co-workers work together in a team environment to get the job done properly.
I don't feel there is a hard part to my job do to the fact all  team members are always willing to help out when a fellow employee might be stuck on a certain function of his job.
The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing a happy tenant once a issue has been resolved.
