I normally sell merchandise such as handbags, luggage, garment bags, wallets, travel accessories, backpacks, and umbrellas.  I also have to constantly stuff bags and make sure that displays are neat and filled.  In order to feature the newest collection at the time I always follow VP guides.

 Aside from selling and providing great customer service, I have responsibilities to keep the store floor clean and the backroom organized.

 I learned how to read customers physical and verbal signs of buying more effectively, and I can suggest merchandise accordingly.  As a result, I am better at communicating with customers to satisfy their needs.  

 The management daily tasks are easy to carry out because we have a planner and daily memos to read.  The hardest part of the job is to convince the customer to buy extra accessories when they only want to purchase one thing.  Sometimes customers become frustrated and feel pressured.  This is why there is a fine line between suggesting merchandise within the customers comfort level, and making them feel rushed or confused.

Finally, the most enjoyable part of my job is when I help find customers find exactly what they are looking for, whether it may be the clutch for their prom, or the matching wallet for their summer purse.  Regardless, it feels great to make the customer happy and feel confident in what they purchase.

Worked there for almost two years, never got a raise or promotion. Almost got promoted but not to the location I was hired at, so decided to decline because of location issues and after that I was not treated with the same respect & was denied a raise or more hours. 

They talk a lot about work culture, then switch around the entire districts’ managers and try to get them to get along with and change the habits of a whole new team. 

You get no hours because they hire so many employees that each one gets about 10 hours a week. Lots of turnover, had about 5 different managers in the time I was there, lots of different co-workers too. 

Asked to do much more than job description but you’re not recognized for it. 

The customers there were actually pretty good overall and selling luggage was really fun, but the management was really just horrible.

I was a sales valeter for bentley glasgow. It is a position that has a very high turnover for staff and there is only one position.

The salary at the time was way below par compared to some other of parks competitors and I actually left to go and work for one becuase the difference in pay was too great to ignore especially after covid because I had a feeling that cost of living would get crazy. 

Parks like to charge employees a £1500 accident damage excess in the event you have an accident and I think it's wrong having such low pay with no bonus and taking minimum £125 for 12 months from low income employees especially when they have kids and cost of living is so high thats what Insurance is for is it not?.

All in all I would never apply to work for parks in any position because I find them to be a greedy company who pay the worst in the motor trade with zero incentives for drivers and valeters.

Real simple work, sell product, stock product repeat. you learn the basic skills needed for retail and still have a relaxed work environment. management fluctuates and managers are constantly moving stores, each with a new way of doing things making it hard on existing staff to get used to. Co-workers are a dime a dozen some people are lucky to stay a week while others stay for years. the hardest part f the job is dealing with customer demand at peak points in the year, I reference back to school time mostly, parents frantically trying to get things at the last minute and all you and your co worker can do is un-stuff and scan in items. the enjoyable part of the job is the people you meet customers, co-workers, other people in the mall makes it great for beginners.

Its a good place for someone who is in school or someone looking for a small job for some spending money. This job allowed me to learn more in depth product knowledge, you get a good confident boost to be able to inform customers about the products that they might not know. You get to work alone a lot and I'm sure for most that was scary at first, it was for me. Being on your own really allows you to be more cautious about what you're doing, knowing you're responsible for an entire store can be pretty stressful but rewarding. I would recommend this place if you're wanting to be more independent and okay with small pay. I learned a lot while working here, I'll say i definitely benefited from working here.

This was my first actual job aside from having worked at my parent's retail business for a couple years. Just recently we had a change of management but everyone I worked with now and before had been easy to get along with and was able to work well together to strive to achieve our store budget and further make our workplace an area customers can freely walk into knowing we are there to help if needed. 

I've learned many things from joining my team. I've gained a lot more confidence in speaking to others, improved on my customer service skills, learned how to set budgets and achieve them, and always aim for better, 

This has no doubt taught me a lot but I am always open to experiencing new things and hoping to achieve better.

The atmosphere and environment was so positive and fun to work in, my manager was so helpful and kind I honestly couldn't have asked for a better manager let alone, job it was so easy to do anything in there.

The hardest part in this job was their system set up on their computer. I had such a hard time learning it because it was so outdated and the manager refused to upgrade it.

Overall, I loved helping the customers, cleaning, organizing, learning of the new products as they rolled out, I can't say anything bad about the place to be honest, just their system set up on the computer.

Nothing. It's sales. Maybe the amount of papers you have to fill out.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I clock in . Check for stock. Clean if there isn't stock. Greet the customers, help them if they need it. Close the store,  count the till, do the last paperwork. Lock up , go home.

Manage my team, keep them on track with their sales and their KPI's. On the spot coaching, training and product knowledge to improve staff's customer service skills and to build their confidence in the products they are selling. In charge of payroll and schedules. General cleaning duties, cash handling, opening the store on time and doing all promotional changes accordingly to our company standards. Keeping control of stock levels and ensure the stock is being done efficiently and in a timely matter.
