I learned a lot by volunteering here. I learned how to be an effective part of a team and how to communicate with people who had troubles doing so. Here I made a lot of friends and the work really didn't feel like work. Nothing made me feel more rewarded than the smiles on people's faces when I would come around and comfort them and visit with the people living at the facility. After volunteering there for quite a while, I had learned the routines and was able to help guide other volunteer groups that joined the cause. The hardest part of the job is when you try you figure out that somebody has a need to be met, but you don't have the training to properly meet that need for then, requiring you to find a nurse (for example, toiletting).

would not recommend Bethany as a place to work.  care provided to residents is barely adequate due to poor staffing, poorly trained staff and many staff with poor attitudes regarding care and team work. Rn and LPN staff are over burdened by duties such as medication administration rounds and are unable to supervise care staff adequately.  Many care staff take advantage of the lack of supervsiion.  bullying and retribution are part of the everyday workplace. and even the very best nurses, with strong character and skills have been driven out of Bethany because of this.

a typical day at work was cleaning, serving food, communication with the health care aides, nurses and other staff. Activities with the residents. 
I learned that i wanted to become a health care aide from this job. i loved the residents and the health care aides/ nurses. i learned how to adapt to working with the dementia residents.
management was very good and easy to get a hold of if there was ever any questions/ concerns.
the hardest part about the job was just starting and learning the routine.
the most enjoyable part of the job was getting to know and talking to the residents and staff.

I have 8-hr shift which can be am, pm or night. My typical day at work includes bedside care, light housekeeping, toiletting & bathing residents, feeding, assist resident in ADLs and involve residents in activities.

I learned a lot on the healthcare in Canadian setting.

My co-workers were fine and my mentors were really supportive and informative.

What i love most is when my patient thank me for a job well done.

This is a work place that fosters a culture of fear.The supervisors and
some CSMs are bullying staff.

If you speak up you are fired as are people you associate with.
The place looks good on the outside-not so within!

Too bad as residents suffer. Staff are afraid to go to CSM for fear of being rebuked!!
No encouragement -seldom praised.
 People scratch each others back to get ahead at the expense of hard working dedicated staff!!

One of the best ran companies I have worked for. Its to bad all of the health care aides resent their jobs and the residents (with an exception of one or two). If the environment wasn't so toxic I would have loved working there. The management team really needs to supervise how the health care aides do their jobs. Some very unethical treatment happens here.

Bethany is a fun place to work in, especially when you are goal oriented and an empathetic worker, with aims at obtaining optimal and otherwise, excellently fulfilling client satisfaction.

I loved getting to know all the residents there by working in assisted living and ADSP. The facility was kept very clean and the care of the residents was evident.

All management should be replaced, they have ruined the morale of the staff, good thing about Bethany is the seniors enjoyed doing my job, visiting with seniors when had the opportunity 

Very caring and compassionate facility for extended care residents.  Always an aura of commitment to residents and families which extended to sense of contribution as a employee.
