A day at work in Bishop was almost always fun. The crew is great top-to-bottom, and management is well connected to what is happening on the ground, and in the industry as a whole.

During my time spent with Bishop I learned all there is to know about the basics of landscaping, and many advanced skills, and techniques as well. From maintenance to installations, they have many sites, in nice areas, and projects to keep everyone busy.
With guaranteed hours, and potential overtime  there's security. As well as great flexibility if you need time off. Even if it's just to rest-up after a long week. The boss knows how hard the job can be some times.

The crew, and the supervisors are awesome. It's a fun, enthusiastic workplace. Everyone has their unique interests, hobbies, lifestyles. I've made life-long friends there, which I find is such a rare thing in workplaces. Working with people like that really make even the toughest days fly by. Which counts for a lot.

Some days are tough of course. It's a very physical job, and can be extremely exhausting at times. So if you're not one to enjoy sweating every day, the job may not be for you. Best way to look at it I found, was to see it as being paid to go to the gym, almost. Make sure you drink your water. I have never been so healthy, nor looked so good since I started landscaping. 

Before Bishop I had never pictured myself, nor even considered working in landscaping, but I had already spent years in the service industry, dabbled in retail, call-centers. Bishop hired me with no experience and I soon found out I love this field of work. Without them, I don't think I would of ever had the privilege of discovering that. Of learning so much. To work with supervisors who were patient, and fun to learn under. Employees who are easy to get along with. As well as working for a boss, that went above, and beyond to accommodate me as I grew into this line of work.

It's because of Bishop I now have the required skill set to further myself as a Landscaper/Horticulturist. The only reason I left is because I wish to further specialize into Hardscaping, and because of my time with Bishop I was able to attain a such a great reference and do that.

It's a great company. Professional attitude, new standardized equipment, nice job-sites, fair and understanding of individual's needs. They strive for an excellent quality of work, and standard of ethics.  The work culture is grounded; it's fun, it's human. 
Which is so rare.

Unsolicited life suggestion - apply here! I worked for Bishop for a total of five years. I learned so much and made relationships that changed my life. It is a small but growing company with room for advancement. I started as a full-time gardener and eventually moved into a part-time administrative position while I went to school.

If you like getting fit, dirty, and sweaty with a bunch of hardworking, fun-loving knowledgeable people, you will love this job. You will work under Red Seal trained supervisors and learn more about gardening than you bargained for. The crew takes quality of work seriously and expects you to do the same. Bring your A-game to work and you will be rewarded.

This company took good care of me and is dedicated to their employees. Employee retention is high for this reason. They operate from the perspective of "servant leadership". This means they will work with you when life happens (personally, financially, etc). The employer is highly responsive and accommodating but expects your best work, a sense of humour, and humility. There is opportunity for education and advancement if you are keen. Definitely can be a career job. 

The wage is about average starting wage for landscaping but you will get regular wage increases and they add up quickly. Benefits are great including massage therapy etc after three months of work. There is an amazing staff hangout area at the shop including a tiki bar and a shuffle board. If you love nature, good people, and are looking to invest in something, this is an excellent opportunity.  



Best job I have ever had! It is the perfect starting point for someone looking to kick start a new career or someone with ambition to grow their skill set.

Bishop Landscaping has a genuine focus on putting people first. Their commitment to creating community between their employees, vendors and their clients is admirable. Everyone who comes into the Bishop bubble is treated with respect and given the opportunity to grow. Not only does Bishop support employees in their growth within the company, but they also offer support for personal endeavours outside of work.

Bishop has a great work culture. There is a emphasis on doing high quality work, while also having fun. The team is full of creative, energetic people and the supervisors are all very supportive and prepared to meet you at whatever level of experience you have. 

This is a great job for someone who likes the outdoors and connecting to the garden. The work is physically demanding, but don't let that sway you. You can start gentle and you will get strong fast. You'll be surprised by what you are capable of achieving within just a few weeks.

Bishop has provided me with all of the necessary skills to pursue  my career further, while also teaching me new skills in business, management and the importance of creating community in the workplace. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a change in career direction and the ambition to grow both professionally and personally.

Reading some of the reviews here I can say they’re pretty accurate to my experience. 

I started at Bishop with no gardening experience but with support and patience of the supervisors I felt fairly confident and capable in a short time. Training was consistent no matter which supervisor I worked under which was helpful. What I don’t think I was prepared for was how exhausting some of the work would be. Some mornings I’d return to work and I felt my body hadn’t recovered from the previous day’s work. Seemed like most of the people there were used to it but I found it a challenge. Management was always flexible with me and recognized that some of the work was more difficult for me than others and made some adjustments for me. I really enjoyed working outside but sometimes the consecutive days of rain made me daydream of working indoors. 

Standards are very high as well as company professionalism which I liked. The pace the supervisors expect you to work at sometimes was more than I could do and at times made me feel inadequate for the job.

Like others mentioned company culture is important to the owner and to the majority of the crew. I always felt respected and heard and management always seemed open to new ideas.  

Had some awesome company events and parties. There’s a rec room and yoga studio with regular classes. I didn’t really use either but others did. 

Great company, awesome coworkers but difficult work. 

I've worked for Bishop Landscaping Ltd for just over 2 years in Vancouver (2014-2016). If I didn't move to the Sunshine Coast ,BC, I would still be working for them!
I never found such a great environment to work in and don't think will ever again (So now I'm self employed).
The first matter to them when hiring is: will you fit with the team?
The owner understood quickly that a happy employee is an employee that will stay. So the crew is always fun to work with and have good ethics. You MUST love gardening or have an interest in gardening if not, don't apply with them.
Working at Bishop is one of my best employment experience. Great team, varied jobs and job sites so you don't get bored, good advancement, moving up pay rates, don't need experience to start but need motivation, great workout, super flexible (don't abuse it!), environmentally concerned, supporting leadership, schooling/certification available.
Not just a summer job; definitely a career opportunity.
Wages starts decent, you might find it low if you have no experience (but hey, you have NO experience remember?), but if you prove to be a good asset and stick around then it goes up, as does responsibility.
They had no benefits when I was there but they do now :) ...and many other perks!
A feel good place to be working at!

I was originally  hired at Bishop as an office administrator in 2017, and worked in this position for many years.  It was a great experience in developing relationships with clients, managing the AP and AR, and also developing new systems for the office.  The company owner was flexible and understanding and always encouraging me to take the lead in new ways of doing things. I gained a lot of confidence.  

When needed, I was asked to work out in the field with the gardeners, I thrive on variety so it was perfect for me; a little office work and occasionally physical work being outside.  I really enjoyed working with the other gardeners and completing jobs outside, such a feeling of satisfaction.

There were some creative company events, that I really enjoyed and was fortunate enough to have  made some close friends at the company too. 

One of the unexpected benefits of my job was to be able to mentor someone from the Community Living Society.   I got to be able to train him to take care of the warehouse and it’s been a really fulfilling experience. and he’s a great addition to the company :)

But really all this wouldn’t be possible without a management and company culture that  cares and sets the tone of inclusion, fun, and good hard work.


I worked at Bishop Landscaping for four years as a laborer, and while it wasn’t what I expected at first, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly coworkers and the strong sense of teamwork. The work was much harder than I initially thought, but it was also incredibly rewarding.

Bishop is where my passion for gardening truly began. Through hands-on experience and great guidance, I developed the skills that shaped me into the gardener I am today. Beyond the work itself, I genuinely enjoyed the people I worked with and have maintained connections even after moving on.

Having worked for other landscaping companies since, I can confidently say that Bishop Landscaping stands out. They treated me not just as a worker, but as a valued team member, and that made all the difference. It can be a hard work (it’s a landscaping job), but at the end of the day you feel satisfied because you can look behind and see how much you have done.

Properties you work on are nice and safe. The company keeps pace with new technology, innovation and new ideas. 

There are many possibilities for growth (learning new skills, courses, schools etc.). The knowledge of supervisors is incredible and they’re always happy to share it with you. Flexibility, support and friendly environment is something that describes Bishop.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company culture and everyone gets along really well. Open minded and there to help you learn and support you along the way. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's nothing personal but things seem to take a while to get sorted out. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is forgiving a patient and understanding. No one gets fired easily (within reason ofc) and we are human, we all make mistakes. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fairly easy going. Come in, help load tools if you're at the shop, have a coffee if you're early enough, get going to site, tasks are given, 1 paid 30 minute break and one not (coffee can be short depending on site and tasks needing to be finished that day), leave some sites 20 mins before end of day. Plus size, we get driven back to SkyTrain

I joined Bishop landscaping in late 2020, I only worked for the company for a couple of months due to my visa expiring and wished I had of found this company when I first arrived in Canada in 2018! 

But during those few months as a landscaper, I truly enjoyed every day being part of the Bishop team which quickly turned into to the Bishop family! 
The owner and staff made me feel so welcome, always helpful, supportive and very accommodating. Everyone is fun, energetic and respectful any ideas are always listened to and considered. With hard work always recognised and rewarded which gives you a sense of satisfaction at the end of the day. 

The owner goes above and beyond for every member of staff professionally and personally, with great Benefits and company events. Not to mention the staff room at the shop! Amazing!
