Managing our Heat Treatment department which included all aspects including safety, quality and production. I am responsible for driving all areas of the manufacturing within the department as well as the whole plant in the absence of the Manufacturing Manager.
In any typical day I would monitor production, equipment maintenance, hours of employees, quality of parts produced and health and safety of employees.
Best part of any day is being successful as a team to achieve goals

Union based environment, making employee management relations slightly school yard, and uniform.
Morale a tad low, and vision not one I could wholeheartedly support.
I learned a lot in this position, knowledge in machining, programing, operating.
Shift work was involved which was hard, but showed me I am capable of adapting.
I enjoyed getting my hands dirty and proving to myself that I can tackle and excel, in an industrial environment.

Metallurgy and Particle inspection were an addition to my daily tasks of heat treating, tempering and straightening steel used on heavy equipment machinery. Spent 4 years learning all stages in the heat treat department, then transferred to shipping and receiving where loading and unloading of trucks via forklift. Handled all paperwork and reported to logistics. Finally returned to heat treat as a lead hand until I had decided to work for Stirling Hydraulics(who serviced at Black Cat) and had hoped to get a millwright apprenticeship.

This company is great if your in management. People working on the production floor are just numbers to get the work out the door so the management can make they’re bonuses. Floor staff has been promised bonuses for 3 years now and received nothing. But all managers and sales staff revived they’re bonuses every year !!! Slave labour shop !! Hot ! Dirty ! And dangerous !!!

Learned how to operate CNC machinery also over head cranes and some MIG welding. There was always something new to learn. Always available overtime. Plenty of room for advancement and the company was always willing to help you pursue it. The shifts were 12 hours so you were always guaranteed overtime on your check. Overall was a very good company to work for.

it was a good work environment
I noticed that night shift supervisor would give the hardest jobs to the newer recruit even when we had to hit quota leaving him screwed over at the end of the shift.
if they dont like you then you better be careful
its rare for guys to advance in the company.

•	Operated overhead crane, forklift and ovens for purpose of heat treat
•	Ensured project met timelines
•	Performed Supervisory duties as required (Designate) 
•	Coordinated the packing and shipping of blades

My supervisor was an excellent mentor. Co-workers were easy to get along with. 

I had excellent managers there and the company educated me well,
lots of great bonuses, and great workplace culture. safety was always
this company's number one concern and I felt comfortable working there for thirteen years.

For the first few yrs it was ok,Than Management went cokoo..
Very good wages for a Blade Processor but very stressful at some..
If you want a good job,thst is sorta relaxing,this job is for you,but breathing in toxins all day doesn't cut the cheese..

Pay sucks for the job you do,night shift or as they call it the graveyard shift is not worth 2$ more , if the guys like you in the shop they are always willing to stop what they are doing to help
