Working under this CNC foreman was one of the most discouraging experiences of my career. He constantly belittled the team, treating every suggestion or idea with a dismissive attitude. Instead of offering guidance or constructive feedback, he seemed to enjoy micromanaging and criticizing even the smallest of details. It felt like his goal was to undermine confidence rather than build up a productive, cohesive team. He lacked respect for anyone’s experience or skill level, and morale was always low because of it. Trying to discuss improvements was futile; he either ignored feedback or brushed it off as if it didn’t matter. His behavior created a toxic work environment where you dreaded going to work each day. Honestly, it’s hard to improve or feel valued when your foreman seems more invested in tearing you down than supporting your growth or contributions.

The company absolutely does the work to stream line your job as best they can, giving you all the tools needed to complete it safely and with minimal stress on the body. Never really have to break your back. The pay is decent if you stick it out for a couple years. And the guys you work shoulder to shoulder with are legends for the most part. No real issues with management, they do listen to feedback if you present them with a solution as well as the problem. Only issue I had with black cat is there's one or two losers in the office that are just out to rain on your parade. Other than that  you could do alot worse 

I learned many new skills that are very helpful and in demand.

From blade processor I learned a lot about quality control and became an internal auditor for the ISO standard 9001.

I also became a forklift and crane instructor, and I really enjoyed my time teaching the new hires and doing the refresher training.

I also became a member of the safety committee and helped the company with their 5s program.

This company has gone downhill big time. The pay is terrible, there is no room for advancement, it's run through nepotism/fear (the old boys club) and they go on workshare (20% pay cut) every 2 years when the economy slows down. Office management is terrible, two faced and rules through intimidation. All the good employees are long gone and leaving in droves even during the middle of Covid. 

Low pay for a union shop.  12hr shifts and broken up work weeks makes for hard time to plan days off.  Management is in the process of moving 2 buildings worth of equipment into one building, so it is very confined work.  Work is very repetitive in an overly hot, dusty, fume environment.  Old equipment breaks down regularly while management expects more production and increasingly tighter accuracies.  Good parking.

This was the easiest job I have ever had.  You follow a manual step by step and sit and wait for phones to ring most of the day.  Very mentally draining as it is incredibly boring.  Hard to find things to fill time with.  Office is run by a clique.  If you aren't part of the "It" sales crowd then you are bullied.  No point going to managers or HR as they are also part of the clique.  It is a demoralizing place to work and leaving was the best part of the experience. 

Employees on the floor are great to work with for sure. Pay is decent if you have a trade, production staff doesn't get paid enough for the conditions they work in. Management and HR leave a lot to be desired, its their way or the highway type. Can't really speak to HR without other management and office staff finding out your business. "Very clicky" management.

place has too much favouritism, wasn’t the job for me. I was treated very poor, place has too many doggers. can’t take holidays if the company is busy, even tho they are YOUR holidays. company is very sly after they locked us out for an entire summer. more then a few guys on the floor are bully’s. & don’t make the mistake trusting anyone on the floor, yes even all your coworkers. enjoy

Black cat wear parts is a very good place for learning and stable employment, great benefits and good staff to work for and with. Decent shifts, really interesting work and starting positions for people just starting to join the workforce or interested in getting started working in the steel industry. 

Training was sub par in the office, expected the world from you but didn’t give you the training for it. Very clicky self absorbed people in the office. Rude managers who’d go out for 6-8 smoke breaks in the morning alone and then get mad at you for taking a 5 min break at the very end of the day when my work was finished.
