THE recruiter makes it sound like a cool and fun place to work and is friendly, but that's where it ENDS.

The initial paperwork is costly and over-whelming---they expect YOU to pay $ 60 for a police clearance and they KEEP the record---you have to pay to have it delivered and ONLY hire you after they receive that clearance.  Getting reimbursed for the $60 bucks-takes several emails, phone calls, and about 8-12 weeks.

The MOUNTAIN of paperwork---(no joke, about 30-45 pages) you have to fill out, all prior to getting hired is RIDICULOUS !.

The wage is almost MINIMUM.

When you get to your assignment, your are treated like a unwanted new hire trying to steal other employees hours, unfriendly, cold, curt.

The palnograms are tiny print, sometimes blurred, incorrectly copied, BLACK & WHITE sheets of paper that the picture is basically useless.  Which means you are forced to use the numerical, sequential loooong list to allocate your product.

You must provide your own tools if you want the job done correctly.

They often give conflicting orders, not professional as far as being organized, having simple items such as signs, tape, etc.

You must provide your own uniform---shirt, shoes & pants---must be solid black.


HOURS ARE few and far between, you could complete your store in like 2 hours.

The computer entries are complex, and expense reporting is EVEN MORE COMPLEX and can take up to 8-12 weeks to receive any reimbursement.

People don't show, call in sick and quit on a regular basis.

i really enjoy working in the public, meeting the customers and chatting with them while i scan their groceries.  if they have children i get them to help out with little things that they can do.  i beleive that a cashier's job is very important as we are the last ones the customers see and sometimes that decides if the customer will come back again.  over the 12 years i have  worked as a cashier i have not experienced an upset customer.  my goal is to always
make the customer have a happy experience in whatever job i have.  i get along great with my co-workers and management. i have learned in all my present and former jobs to give the customer your undivided attention...you may never know the effect you have on the customers  just by being friendly, smiling, helping them find something, being polite, having a good and positive attitude, being a good listener.

If you would like to work for free and be stressed out, disrespected, injured on the job and no benefits....woken up in the middle of your sleep when you are not scheduled, to have a rude voice in your ears....only good part about the job is when you start it and nobody from the company calls you to disrupt your inner peace....no phone calls and then all is well....This job if definitely for you! I worked with them and had a dispute with them multiple times to the point they wont schedule you and ignore you and try to threaten you with HR when they are the ones doing illegal acts....

Blaze Marketing travels from store to store reorganizing the isles according to what the store manager wants. A typical day at this job was moving products from one section to another by following a planograhm and moving shelves and hooks. I learned how to follow a planograhm and how to place shelves and assemble dexions. The boss was awesome. Her instructions were all very clear and she was very encouraging. The co-workers were great, every one helped each other when needed. The hardest part of the job was doing a planograhm that had new products that were not in the store. I had to estimate the size by following the picture on the planograhn. I really enjoyed that there was always something to do and planograhms to work on. It made the time go by so fast and made work so enjoyable.

Worked as a part time merchandiser in grocery stores for blaze. Not a bad company to work for although they did not provide enough consistent work during early to mid summer months. Weekly shifts could have been increased provided there had been more work opportunities.Felt confident about the management and staff. Hardest part is repeated bending or reaching to the back of a bottom shelf to remove products.Work was fast paced and very physical. Was paired up with another merchandiser to work together so better suited for someone who likes working with others in compared to working on your own.Tasks involved moving and cleaning grocery shelves. Had to review and implement planograms, removing and restocking new or discontinued product. worked closely with store managers to ensure everything is correct layout.

-training is next to nothing and you are treated poorly right away
-store staff is not a fan of Blaze employees and will give you a hard time
-co-workers can be unreliable and unhelpful especially if you rely on them to meet on time and get work completed properly
-immature and rude upper management and supervisors
-pay is held at whim and you have to hound at times to get it
-pay is also threatened to be held by Sobeys upper management to encourage work completion, regardless of your work load and availability or ability or training 
-technology is in the dark ages for reporting completed work and gettting paid. Don't expect mileage 
-hard labour at times with long shifts and no lunches or breaks
-pay is not taxed

Missing pay, withholding of reports and inconvenience. It is unacceptable and unprofessional on countless occasions that I have to continue to call and explain myself as to why I am missing pay and why reports are being held without my knowledge. I am informing you and I hope that you do know, that in the Ontario's Standards Act, it's illegal to withhold someone's pay and the hours they've worked. On top of that pay, stubs do not come on time. All three weeks late I receive my pay stubs. 
They make it very clear that they don't care about their employee's well-being. But they love to inconvenience your livelihood.
It's disgusting to see how low and degrading, neglectful to people you guys, could be. Your ignorance is beyond professionalism in the workplace.

Blaze Marketing is one of those companies that is always hiring because they cannot win any employee loyalty because of the way they treat employees.  You will struggle to get paid.  If you do merchandising out of town, you will wait half a year or more to be paid for mileage and the correct amount for your many hours of work.  You will be leaving messages on their telephone in Nova Scotia regularly because they chronically underpay you, or even don't pay you at all.  When you get to a FreshCo the manager might say that they already relined that section and then you go home with no work after wasting your time and money driving there.

Out of all the merchandising companies I've worked for, Blaze is the worse and I know because I've worked for quite a few. Last time I worked for them, it was in a sobeys and it was just me and another person who was in charge because she had more experience and also worked for sobeys. I just remember being bored the entire shift and she made me work for a good 6 hours with most of it being trying to read the planograms because they were messed up & we ended up making a huge mistake so we had to start over. Only time I worked for them was for 1 day. The amount of paperwork when you start is ridiculous as well. Would not recommend this company! Pay is garbage for the work they need you to do.

My team leader micromanaged us, would make mistakes and would start blaming us for it.
You get good hours at the start, but after a few months, they only give you 1 shift a week. Sometimes I went 2 weeks without being scheduled. Absolutely bullcrap. Then after I called HR and got more hours, I found out they gave my hours to the new hires. 

There were several occasions I didn't get my full pay because the pictures they took were not up to par as per the guidelines, or if they improperly filled out the time sheets, or even forget to put you o  the time sheet when faxing it in. 

They will use you. Period.
