This one manager should not be a manger because how they distroy there employees. I never minded working the long hours and doing the really hard work and how crazy it was in the summer, but not knowing everyday you come to work into what mood your manager is in is stressful. That was the most stressful part for me as a employee. The relationships that I have build there with other staff are forever. It saddens me that I can never go back into the store because of one person. I felt used and all the time I spend there meant nothing. I felt just like a number and not a person. No one should feel like that. I did learn a lot there and am very greatful for everything upstairs managers have done for us former employees but they don’t see or hear the abuse some staff get from there department manager.  I really wanted to stay working there but this department manager made it impossible. When you get attacked personally, there is a line you do not cross. I felt like I was back in high school because of all the gossip and clicks. There was times where your manager would not talk to you for days because they were upset with you about something and instead of working it out and talking about it, you would get the silent treatment for days. The store managers and all other staff are amazing and very supportive but there is one department manager that should not be a boss of other and yet they turn a blind eye to the problem. I have never felt so belittled in my life and there has been damage that will never be repaired. Many long time employees and short term employees have quit on the spot due to this managers attitude problem.

A lot of pressure was put on any department. You were only allowed one break. If you had to stay late and do work you were not paid for it. People seemed nice to customers but to employees you were treated not well expected you to know everything after only 3 days of work. The best part was customer interactions and getting to leave. If you have to quit due to life problems and were not able to get last cheque right away they deny that you had a cheque left there. So you may not get paid for two weeks worth of work. But as a bonus you got your 10% discount right away and for the smokers they were allowed to take smoke breaks but if not a smoker you only get your one break. Also you got benefits right away if full time. Lots of long hours.

This company is not managed well. You will be expected to work for no pay. If you do not comply, you will be fired. There are no scheduled breaks. No training is provided and no direction given. It is a work culture that promotes uneasiness. One day your valued and the next day you are dismissed. The new owners are only concerned about profits and not the worker. There are no raises given, you will stay in your position at min wage for years! No substantial discounts given. The store has a high turn over rate due to these practices. Upper management is absolutely terrible and tyrannical. Do not recommend.

Terrible place to work very unorganized.
Managers have no clue what they are doing.

Every week someone gets fired not because of the job they are doing but because they know more than the people running the place.

Very stressful I would not recommend working here.

Long, the other employees are great but the management is terrible.

Very supportive and accepting  employers, felt like a big family.

Very accepting of all diversities and personalities

Very busy during summer months, slower outside of tourist season.

My coworkers, management was horrible

Dealing with management, being verbally abused my customers and other staff

Very toxic, everyone talks badly about everyone else.

Go to work, get yelled at by a fellow cashier and go home.

A great place to shop and work. Room for growth and advances in your position- opportunity for courses and online learning. They are always willing to promote from within and have a great benefits package. High paced work environment makes the days go by quickly. Loved all the great coworkers I met and local people.

Blind Bay Grocer was a great place to work everyone was easy to get along with and work with. I really found that it was a family environment I also found that everyone got along and were very supportive of one another.

I would make the dinner specials and serving customers. Cleaning up for the next day and in charge of staff in the deli. The management could be way better but other wise I enjoyed  working with my co-workers.

Can be very fast paced but most are willing to help wherever needed. Management is very approachable whatever the situation.  Great flexibility and willingness to accommodate.
