Bourgault can be a decent place to work. Unless if you live within a half hour driving distance plan to leave your house at 4 am for the morning shift. There is not a lot of room for growth within the company unless if you have good relations with upper management and give more than 110% at work. Depending on your supervisor they will tell you there is no excuse for being late, even for things out of your control(i.e. a flat tire, stuck waiting for a cargo train, etc.) It is shift work so morning shift starts at 6 am to 2:15 pm, night shift is 3:15 pm to 1:30 am. The pay is higher for what is basically factory work but changes based on which shift you're working. Day shift is definitely lower than night shift. As it goes for benefits you do get full coverage(dental, eye care, etc) During the winter, be prepared to wear extra layers as fork lift drivers leave the doors open regardless the temperature outside when grabbing equipment for the production line. Overtime is occasional with prior approval but is also never guaranteed either, especially if international units are being worked on and packaged. A lot of the work in many different stations deals with repetitive counting for different parts, especially with international units, (example - counting 1500 washers of this type, 100 bolts of this type, 500 bolts of this type, etc).  A lot of the other type of work you do is reading blueprints and building equipment/parts that are added to the frame. There are bonuses for if production is high and ends are met sooner than planned, there is also a gas subsidy that is only just noticeable on the first paycheck after it kicks in. But it only happens about 3 weeks after fuel prices sky rocket.

Personally this job wasn't for me as on my first day I was not informed of where the training room was and I was pulled aside and told if I was late again (even though I explained no one had let me know where to go) I would be let go without warning.

A company that appreciates workers who posses an assertive, positive, and consistent attitude. Managers were pleasant to deal with and most staff were generally positive. It’s a place that an attitude goes a long way, if you want to have a good day, you will and if you want to have a bad day, you’ll get it too. Company is focused on personal development and offers plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and advance if you are willing to make the efforts. I had a hard time leaving because the management was good to me but the shift work isn’t for everyone and I was pursuing a different career path after 10 years in the trades and industries.

They are an okay place to work if you plan on never having a life ever. They control how you use your vacation days. If you plan on taking any days off i just want to say dont even think about it because you will 90% get a NO. They will take away benefits. The supervisors are nice people but their policies are not good. I think your vacation days are your earned days and you should be allowed to use them however you want. Plus they will threaten your job if you try to insist why you NEED that leave. Also they emphasize its okay to make mistakes but that is not the case. They pay is not bad. But remember money you can get at anyjob, but your free time, you will never get back ever again. So if you plan to apply, might want to really think about that. 

I worked here for 6 years and I enjoyed working here. The pay and benefits are good, you get Profit sharing 3 times a year, Production bonus every time we made the target. Advancement was slow, you must be close to bosses to get promoted. My first supervisor was really good the one who replaced him was okay, lacks the skill to lead and motivate people and sometimes not organize, but nice person, hard working and still can improve.  The bosses there still old school, they act like boss, they should start to train people to act and be a leader not like a boss. Too bad the economy is not good and the company laid off lots of employee.

It has great working culture which everyone can fit in easily and standardize work quality is paramount in everything we do

I think there is less stress but I think night shift is more stressful compared to day shift

The work environment and culture is very nice and easy to settle in because of different races

Every day at Bourgault is very busy day we always busy

Typical work day is a, fast paced work environment. I have learnt to build this product from the ground up. I have also learnt, how to deal with problems we encounter on a day to day basis. Management does there job well , always notifying team members of any changes being made . My co-workers are from different parts of the world, and all hard working individuals. The hardest part of my job is, getting the product we build to the premium quality , of the customers desired needs. The most enjoyable part of my job, is watching our product leave the building and our customers purely satisfied.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Organized, friendly atmosphere. Hard work. Pay was reasonable. Easy to work under supervisor

Having to work shift work. Having to drive half an hour to work then back home in the winter

Very close knit. High expectations. Culture is very diversified

Click in do my jobs. When done go to another area and complete the jobs there and so on till it’s home time

Stressful place to work no matter what a person does is not good enough the Formans are basically watching over your shoulders at all times snooping at you spying on you you make one mistake they write you up they don’t give you chances they’re just really hard to please and as far as I’m concerned it is just a normal job get in keep your mouth shut and get out and do not talk to nobody

The work hour is varied night shift and morning shift. I learned how to weld different kinds of farm equipment. The management are pair and just, but sometimes the supervisor are too much in terms of giving work to the employee. The workplace culture is built built and built. the hardest part of the job is to lift the finish product that has been weld. The most enjoyable part was when we hit the target because there is a bonus for every body.

Work at Bourgault Industries Ltd is really enjoyable and interesting. The company provides high: safety, quality and quantity of work. I have learned how to use time proper, to get the job done and right the first time. Also I have learned how to work in a crew with minimal frustrating moments. The management  always cares about employees safety and good conditions for work. Co-workers always help each other, which is very good and productive for the team work.
