Brampton Guardian

First I would need to pack and fold at least 270 catalogs into various newspapers which would take a minimum of 30 minutes. After packing I would distribute newspapers individually to every house on the street before a given time. I learned that interacting with house owners was an easier way to get the job done as it became less tedious and more entertaining in a way. Managing the newspapers were a hard skill to acquire due to the number of catalogs that needed to be sorted on a constant basis. The hardest part of the job were the harsh winter conditions in which I had to hand newspapers in which included snow storms and such. I wouldn't say there was an enjoyable part to the job, but the least dangerous or tedious part was the interactions I was able to make with people that got me through with the job.

The Brampton Guardian is a wonderful company to work for. Being a newspaper carrier, I found the working pace comfortable. It allowed for a fairly well balance of work and everyday life. A typicall day working as a carrier for tha brampton Gaurdian included gathering and rolling a specific number of newspapers where you would then proceed to delivering to a the specified number of houses (apprx. 60-100). I learned how to solved problems relating to shortages of newspapers, "special delivery" newspapers (which included having to deliver special catalouges to specific houses only), and i learned how to manage my time, (deleivering newspapers in a certain time frame). The most enjoyable part of this job was having the ability to interact with consumers as I delivered the newspapers.

So working for Brampton guardian there are only 2 days you have to work, Thursday and Friday. The newspapers will come a day or two earlier than the actual delivery dates so that you can put the newspaper together and hold it together with an elastic (provided by the company). Thursdays papers are always heavy so it's best you start packing them the day before and not rush it the day of, because you'll exhaust yourself before delivery. whereas Fridays papers are always light, so it'll take you less then an hour to put together. In my opinion putting the newspapers together is the easiest part. When delivering you are not to put the newspaper on the owners lawn or grass or sidewalk, etc. unless they don't have a mailbox,if that's not the case you're suppose to place it in their mailbox.

I had to put together all the newspapers and deliver them to the houses on my street. From this job I learned about time management because all papers had to be delivered before 7pm on workdays and before noon on the weekends and I had school and other activities to do aswell. I also learned about responsibility because the neighbors on my street are depending on me to deliver these papers. It was hardest when the papers were large and heavy and when the weather was cold, windy, hot, or when it was raining or snowing. The most enjoyable part was getting the exercise and fresh air when the weather was good.

When working with the Brampton Guardian, I had the papers delivered to my house where I had to then organize each newspaper and put the rubber bands around them. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I would go around our block to deliver the papers to each house. One of the most enjoyable parts of the job was getting to interact with people on my street. One of the hardest parts was delivering the papers in bad weather conditions, such as rain, cold temperatures and snow. This job taught me many skills such as time management, organization and working under any conditions and it was an enjoyable experience.

It was interesting to say the least. My first job, I can say it was fun but it did not have many rules. I just had to deliver newspapers to 60 houses approximately and I had to deliver them in the day they gave those papers to me. Sometimes there were not enough newspapers for the houses so I would have to call the office and they would send me more newspaper and I would have to make 2 trips to the streets and also I had 3 days a week for this job, each day new newspapers that I had to tie and sometimes put in a bag (if it rained, which did many times) and deliver. Overall it taught me responsibility and time management and also customer service skills (due to customers asking about newspaper and sometimes complaining about the newspaper not having some stores flyers).

The flyers are delivered the day before you actually have to deliver it yourself. the following day the cover papers are delivered to you, and you sort and pack the papers set them into your mode of transportation (i.e. wagon, buggy, or car) and deliver them to your route. you have to have it delivered by 8pm

I've learned how to be more sociable with people, and how to manage my time.
if there's any issue or notice I'm informed immediately with either a call or a notice with the next batch of papers.

The hardest part of the this job is the load they have us deliver. the papers during certain times get very thick, and causes problems especially if the weather is not ideal.

Every day I had to carry at least 60 pounds of newspaper and deliver them to over 100 houses around my community. The cart that the company gave broke due to the weight. The pay that they gave me was $40 bi weekly for the amount of work we had to do. Even though when I worked for The Brampton Guardian I was under the age, not eligible to work yet, they treated us like dogs. My boss was rude and disrespectful, any time that I was unable to deliver on a certain day because of school or a family matter came up, my boss would be impolite and tell me I would have to do it or else I would get relieved of my job position.

Being a carrier for the Brampton Guardian was a great experience. I was able to work around my own schedule and feel very independent while doing my work. I developed excellent time management skills, responsibility and how to prioritize. Brampton Guardian has fantastic management. they give you the freedom to explore and create your own rules on the job while always being accessible to ask questions and make it easy to get the help or guidance i needed at any time. The hardest part of my job was working in all whether conditions and keeping the papers to my customers expectations in wet whether. The most enjoyable part of my job was meeting new people and interesting people on the street i delivered to.
