A typical day at work: You would receive an email or phone call telling you where you are delivering to and what time you need to be there for.
What I learned from working at BKT:  How to be a safe patient driver. 
To take lots of photos of everything for example, I took photos of my load making sure everything is loaded and secured properly, and there is no freight damages. Take photos of any damages on Truck/trailers to cover yourself from blame and send them to Safety.   
Management/Dispatch/Safety: They are pretty good, I got along with them. Some drivers are old and cranky but most of them are easy to talk to.
The hardest part of the job: Arriving at a location that is not meant for a highway truck/trailer and try to maneuver around their property and not hit or back into anything.
The most enjoyable part of the job: Getting to travel to some nice places in the USA like Florida or Texas. I visited 38 out of 50 states working at BKT. 

Select workers prone to sporadic hostile outbreaks.
These workers are immune to reprieve and unchecked by management. This has set the stage for a Toxic Work place due to the frequency of these unexpected episodes. Management is more concerned with the welfare of the aggressor than the many who are affected by their unacceptable behaviour.
One of these workers while unqualified in their field have taken it upon themselves an Authoritarian Vindictive Attitude towards Qualified more experienced co workers and management does not intervene, this has lead to high turnover in the shop.
Not a good fit for anyone. Wages only medioker and benefits just basic limited coverage,

Seek employment elsewhere. 

You always start at the yard and loads are usually ready for you to hook up too. You will usually have a trip sheet that will show where your deliveries and pick up are but usually you will contact dispatch when your done your deliveries. Over all it’s a pretty good team environment and management is pretty good. The equipment is in good shape and a lot of the equipment is updated  only part about the job for me is the work life balance 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Everything. Everyone was friendly and helpful  bosses were very understanding 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There wasn't anything to stress about. There was always help when you needed it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They treat you like family. They check in on you and make sure you're doing OK

Good Place to work. New equipment . LTL is a hard grind but you are paid for it. Never seem to go to the same place twice. Majority of freight is pre loaded and waiting in the yard for your departure. Crossing the border is a pain in the backside. They should pay for it .
They have a mantra that we don't ask you to work for free so paid picks, drops, weekends, hazmat etc. Dispatch could communicate better but hey?

What a fantastic group of people to work for and with. Most especially the safety and recruiting department. Their driver support system is the best I've seen or heard of anywhere, in my almost 30 years as a driver in this industry. It's really great to be able to like my job again.

I found working for Kurtz Trucking was a good experience I liked working there the people and staff were good people. They have all new equipment well maintained. The working hours were ok in all I enjoyed working for Kurtz

Too much drama and not enough hands on management skills.
Co-workers run solo instead of team effort everyone passes the responsibilty.

Good people, good place .
I have been working here since June 2005 (17 years ) and will likely retire here in the fall of 2026.
They try to send in areas that you  would prefer to go .
Dedicated truck and no slip seating. 
You work with them and they will work with you. 






Honest people and they do care. If you are willing to work hard you can make decent money. Only experienced drivers should apply. They are understanding and openminded.
