My role was Business Development Representative during my Co-op work term. Right off the bat, the management team was extremely welcoming. The other co-ops and I were instantly immersed into this lovely culture at Bristol. The main aspects that stand out to me were how trusting and how patient the team was with me. My main role was comprised of cold calling, along with attending financial planning meetings with an advisor. The hardest part was that cold calling all day could somewhat get repetitive, but the management team ensured that we can take breaks whenever we need and never micromanaged us. I know for a fact that if they were constantly breathing over our necks, we would've burnt out. As well, if I needed a little bit extra time during lunch or to leave early, I would never be questioned. Bristol as a whole definitely prioritzes a healthy work/life balance in this regard and trusts that their employees are working at their own pace, without ever being overbearing. That being said, they were always there to offer me constructive criticism, leading me to a great learning curve over my term. One advisor actually wrote me a script to use, as he noticed I was struggling with chatting on the phone. Everyone was extremely patient and never grilled me hard, as I've made some mistakes here and there being a new employee. 

Overall, I love how everyone here treated you with respect, and made it very fun, while educational during my time here. I definitely have learned a lot about speaking to prospects/clients, as well as the personal investing/taxes world even though I never actually touched financial plans. Sitting in the meetings was my favourite part, as it offers a healthy break from the repetition and cured my curiosity of the stock market that I wanted to take away from my time here.

Working at Bristol Capital Management was an experience that was nothing short of invaluable. Cold-calling, although nerve-wracking at first, was something I’m glad to have experienced and improved at through proper training and one-on-one sessions with supervisors. As a more shy and introverted person, this role pushed me outside of my comfort zone—for the better. No matter your major or future goals, learning sales, how to communicate effectively, and gaining financial literacy are skills that will benefit you both personally and professionally. I thoroughly enjoyed making calls, booking meetings, sitting in on the financial planning process, and even hearing that a client had signed. Don’t be discouraged by rejection and failure in this role—it’s normal, it’s part of life, and it makes the wins that much more rewarding. I highly recommend gaining an experience like this—you won’t regret it.  

This role is a fair starting point for students looking to learn more about sales and finance. The first month was very rewarding as I was able to adapt my pitches based on my growing understanding of financial concepts. The manager was very helpful in explaining the financial process and how to use example client cases in our value proposition techniques. It is a good opportunity to grow your network - I connected with many industry professionals on LinkedIn while prospecting. 

This position was a great first co-op opportunity where I was able to learn lots of basic skills around sales and finance. The team is very supportive and they prioritize professional growth by providing helpful feedback and training. The most enjoyable part of the job would be participating in prospect/client meetings where you can learn a lot about personal finance, investing, and sales techniques. Contrary, the hardest part can be getting discouraged when interacting with rude prospects. but it helps build a mental fortitude which is important for any sales role. Overall, this was a great first co-op!

Bristol Capital is a great place to build hands-on work experience in the wealth management industry. Advisors & colleagues are intelligent, willing to answer questions, and reward work ethic, productivity, and integrity. 
It's truly a place where you get out what you put in - if you do not care about what you're spending your time doing, then it will be a difficult and strenuous working life, although, if you devote effort to the work you're doing, then it will be rewarded. 
As a co-op student, hands-on experience is invaluable, there was no shortage of opportunity, and I could learn more about what interested me. 
I learned a lot about personal finance, sales, and people. 
I appreciate the opportunities that Bristol provided to me. 

Any doubts you have when talking to strangers will be overcome working this job. If you're a strong talker or can put on a confident appearance, this job is for you. You will be tested in every aspect. The journey will be tough at times, but will improve your skills in communicating with other people, closing sales, and tolerate rejection with a positive-attitude. You will be rejected, you will face adversity, but the struggles you deal with will be the foundation that gives you the courage to achieve what you thought was impossible.

What specifically stood to me while working at Bristol Capital Management is the comfortable work culture. I specifically remember my first day being extremely laid back, which definitely set the tone. My co-workers were very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my time working here and am truly glad to have met such kind people! I learnt so much by shadowing the senior advisors. When I succeeded, they acknowledged my achievements, and when I messed up, they helped guide me through what to do next.   

Great place to work at – entrepreneurial, rewarding, and positive environment with good work-life balance. The senior advisors are focused on helping you succeed and want you to feel content at work. After I left the corporate world at Goldman Sachs, I joined Bristol Capital and have truly enjoyed being part of a smaller company where your decisions and actions have an immediate positive impact on your clients, the team, and the business as a whole. 

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bristol Capital. Between the friendly and helpful people, welcoming business environment, and engaging work assignments that I had the opportunity to complete, my time at Bristol Capital was one that was both fulfilling and enjoyable. Overall, my four-month tenure at the firm was one that was beneficial both on a personal and a professional level and I would be happy to work with the team again in the future. 

I was hired as a business development intern and was able to learn so much about the industry and how a wealth management firm operates. It is a really great opportunity if you are interested in the field at all or want to learn more, highly recommend.
