Building Blocks Daycare

Yes it’s stressful but it’s rewarding. Some moments in some days are more fast paced and some are slow paced. Every child is unique in their own way learning to live life and build social skills for the future. Building blocks is extremely hands on teaching children how to share, Play with other peers,  learn emotions and what they mean. Play time, snack, sensory, so many hands on activities to keep their brains flowing with ideas. Circle time to teach the alphabet to a few different languages like Spanish french and Japanese. Learning songs and to count to 10 in these languages too! It’s way to cute! 

Poor Management- I was put in a room with no previous experience and was given no training. The turn over rate here was at least 2 staff every month. The staff are paid $11.00/ hour which works out to be $1.00/ per hour per kid. There is no health benefits and you are required to show up to work sick...calling in sick you will get written up or they will require a Dr. Note ($45-50 for the note) which you will not be reimbursed. 

The management change the rules frequently depending on their mood. As well as have no problem throwing their staff under the bus to cover their own behinds. 

The employees are amazing people to work with and are very welcoming and open to any questions new staff have. They are some of the best I have had the privilege of working with.

My parents of the childcare center would be better to offer an opinion on the business and how it functioned.

The business ran Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30, upon arrival the children would be greeted at the door and their day would begin. They had phonics, art, and language incorporated into their daily routine, all aged appropriate. The children were encouraged to be as independent as possible, eating their snacks, toileting, changing their own clothing with assistance, brushing their teeth , and also did their work entirely on their own to express their individuality and personalities through their work in a creative matter.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Thank teacher will leave not for me the next day saying I did a pretty good job it made me want to go above and beyond 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When Covid came and I add to use a spray gun to sanitize the classrooms ofter I’m done cleaning everyday

We where a family it was a blessing to be apart of that community

It’s was amazing I miss it now everyday

This day care claims to put children first, but the only thing that matters is the money. The management team is out to further themselves and no one else. They frequently interpret policies to fit their own agendas and are then shocked when they get numerous complaints. I loved working with children but not at the cost that was asked of me. While I was there, there wasn't a single employee with any integrity at all.

Friendly, open, inclusive and accepting workplace, where you help nurture children's natural learning skills accommodating special needs. 
I learned a lot with the teachers many ways to observe, guide and promote good behavior. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is the love and respect we exchange while working with young kids.

Working with the children was such a joy but the management was terrible. There was a constant staff turnover which made it hard on the children as well as the teachers. You are FORCED to do additional schooling even if you have your ECE otherwise hours will be cut drastically and you will get written up.

True professionals in every sense of the word. Your children are in very good hands here. They have an innovative chef that serves nutritious meals and treats. You can tell the staff truly love every child, they call each of the over 100 children by name. One of the best places I have ever worked.

I loved my time at BBDC! I couldn't have been happier to have this career as a stepping stone into the childcare business. The staff were incredible and the management were easy to talk to. Overall, it is a great place to work.

The managers show nothing but favouritism and the staff is unprofessional and undertrained. The children’s well being seems to be a last priority. The staff are treated poorly and don’t get proper breaks or times to eat.
