Placed into a management role lacking subject matter support. 
I started each day at 0600 to write a daily summary report of location and status of raw material arriving by rail. 
Rail is a dynamic, complicated environment with political and delivery challenges. Good exposure to the reality of shipping and depending on raw material to arrive by rail.
Be prepared to work to develop trust with local branch and find ways to meet the production schedule of corporate when missing raw materials or labour challenges.
Communicate with senior management earlier than later. 
Document everything.
Get and remain organized early. Do not rely on having support to set up office to process flow.
Work fast.
Make lots of notes.
Get schedule from corporate officers if they are to meet with you. 
Make SMART goals and be responsible for their execution/success.

The company culture is constantly changing and fluctuating; the product is subject to fluctuations and limitations in trade with the USA. Staff turnover is high. Highly experienced employees are all retiring, and many cannot be replaced due to the harsh working conditions on the production line. Outdated and worn production equipment does not always allow for achieving good performance indicators and consistent quality.

I worked from Monday-friday, I was kept under training for 3 weeks, I learned about the products they made and how to operate different machines, my management staff was very good, my supervisor was polite , he described each and every policy very well, my co-workers were mostly all of my age, they were friendly and helpful, sometimes the machines got some mechanical issues so that time was the hardest other than that I enjoyed alot there.

Building Products was great to work for initially, but it became quickly evident that the corporate department heads intimidated the workforce. Employees often went out of their way to avoid the VPs and President. They were not forthcoming with information about my position, outright lying to me about organizational changes that were happening and were very disrespectful.

This is my second job out of university and i can not stress enough how amazing of a learning opportunity the job provides. Also, the pay and benefits are unmatched when comparing to other companies in the surrounding area. 

work days start at different times every day and the days are long. you are given various locations throughout the city to deliver to.the job can be stressful out in traffic at times and never knowing when you are done is hard.the best part of the job is the freedom

A good work experience to have on the cv, a good place to find longer-term friendships 

Poor pay for the amount of work invested lots of departures and turn around

I was able to learn a lot from all my coworkers/supervisors. It was very comfortable working there.
Everything was at a smaller scale so it was easier to learn how things worked. The people there were always ready to help.

This company takes advantage of their employees and demands they work in unsafe conditions. There is no respect for the workers and the union reps are weak.

Great company and a great team of people.  Had to perform various administrative tasks which prevented monotony.  Lot of initiatives.  Great balance between family and work life.
