I got hired to work at a Westclean store sometime around October as an Order Picker. I never had Order Picker experience, so this job was going to look good on my resume. I was also expected to get forklift training on location as well. The manager trained me extensively on how to properly locate items in the warehouse and took VERY GOOD care of sanitation and cleanliness. Ive always hated warehouse positions where people cant be bothered to clean up a busy place.

There was never any official schedule. However, my manager and I concluded that I would have my own set time in and time out. That time never changed. The people who I worked with - my manager included - always talked as if they were very very very close. It was kinda like stumbling into a fraternity dorm mid-party. Even more-so since every few days someone would buy Tim Horton's for literally the entire building. Office parties were DEFINITELY a plus. We even had a new computer system installed, and over the weekend we had Chinese food and even some pizza. Ive never worked a job where people have done something even remotely similar.

The hardest part of the job was getting over the fear of heights. These order pickers go 15 feet into the air. Some of the things you're taking down and stacking onto the back of the picker aren't always as manageable as you'd like. Paper towel rolls for example come in huge packages, and some locations like universities ALWAYS want loads of them. This leads to an absurd amount of stacking - higher than you'd probably like to stack. There's also the odd order which will leave you needing to improvise. I could probably remake the amount of money I had made working at this position if I had 5 dollars every time I had to take an empty box to put loose order items in so that I could properly stack the pallet.

First of all management sugar coat everything they will say anything just to get you work for them.. They dont respect your time so they expect you to do 12 hours a day 5 days a week and still pick 50 lines an hour.. If you ask if you can go home early because your tired or you got something to do in the morning the manager will just make you feel guilty and give you the talk! And if decided to call in the next day they will call you and try to force you to come to work and threaten your job if not.. And one more thing there is no certified first aid in the shift even the supervisor are not trained so if you fall from 30 feet hight platform they cant do nothing. There is no work life balance here all they care is about their orders going out the door. They struggle to hire people because people always quit on their first day. Please save yourself sometime and not work here and make your life miserable..

driving on your own getting away from i micro manger. customers are great.

ware house manger is extremely moody, one day nice next day condescending remarks.god complex and hates people, He trains you but never allows you use equipment. Tries to make you feel unqualified

great if you dont have to work with warehouse manger

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
hired as driver but made to work in the warehouse lifting heavy supplies. Forklift trained however never allowed to use. i got in trouble scolded like a child for letting a truck driver slash supplier use the rest room

place is who you know and who you blow, terrible workplace environment, toxic, rude management insulting subordinates and power-hungry old men that think being rude and obnoxious is a management style. The boys club they call it! very disfunctional. Surprised they've been able to survive this long, the company is so poorly managed. upper management is so disconnected for the day to day operations- they went and got themselves a new office to be further disconnected! if the US HQ found out what happens with the familial hiring, VPs hiring their cousins, mother and daughter in the same departments, managers dating employees, I am sure action would be taken! avoid this place at all costs

It's a horrible environment , employees are unfriendly , the salary scale is very low upper management is far away from the employees and have know idea what's going on

Som employees are working too much while others  , especially the old ones just chatting and not working

A very bad environment , people are so bad and not helping each other .
The work environment is not good at all , I'll not recommend it at all

Working without a break because of the daily heavy work load

Fun job. Afternoon lead is a joke and discriminates against employees who are not the same nationality as him.  Extremely devied groups amongst its employees. Its like high school all over again has extremely unorganized work atmosphere. Other then a good starting wage, raises and benefits should be much higher because off the heavy work load both physical and mental. Under staffed and afternoon shift must stay no mater what to complete orders no exceptions. Every shift consists of 2 hrs overtime and thats on a good night not to mention 8000 to 10000 pounds of physically lifting, building and wrapping skids. Then clean up

Offsite and absent, inexperienced management.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Inclusive and progressive. Some toxicity, but very good people were the majority.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mostly in communication with customers. Good support from Sales staff. Cooperative team in assisting with account management.

Where to start! The wet sock of a SO CALLED manager at the Burlington location is by far the worst human I've had the displeasure of meeting! They constantly push you to work over legal hours by having you log into system as "unknown driver". The handbombing at times is ridiculous! Stops are regularly out of sequence. You're FORCED to come in yearly for an idiotic day of inventory with the wet sock morons from the front office. If there were an option for negative stars, this craphole most certainly qualifies. Overall this place has ZERO respect for truck drivers. STAY AWAY!

I suggest you the bare minimum and just get tue job done. They hate overtime pay but they expect you to preform at levels which should invoke decent pay plus overtime but that’s not the case. They will work you hard if your  hard worker you will
Not be compensated for you work or appreciated much. I personally set records while I was there i did things drivers have never done as far as my route and my truck loaded and unloaded. I would finish my route in 4 hours or less only to have to hide behind building to get my time. Job should be a salary job as a driver

What is the best part of working at the company?
The Technicians in the Service Department were highly skilled, knowledgeable and great to work with. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Direct management and a large portion of senior management were mostly uncaring and deceitful towards their staff members. I could no longer perform my duties under those conditions, which is why I resigned. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
To state it simply; untenable.
