Burlington Bowl

a typical day at work involved serving food and beverage both non-alcoholic and alcoholic to customers. It is based in a bowling alley and being a server/ bar-tender there wasn't much business. What I learned from this job was that it was a good slow introduction to bar-tending if you were a beginner like me and that working at a bowling alley as a bar-tender kind of sucked. some of my co-workers were great and got along fine with them but a lot of my co-workers fought amongst themselves creating a bad atmosphere. I never saw my boss, he was always somewhere but never came over to say hi and have a conversation. The hardest part of the job was learning how to sell beer on the bowling lanes. you had a cart that you would push around and sell beer to all the leagues. The most enjoyable part of the job were my co-workers. I didn't like the job itself and only my co-workers made it bearable.

I am happy to go to work each time I have shift. Now under new management things have changed for the better. I am getting lots of hours that I need. I am getting the chance to change my area of work from being a party hostess to working on the bar. The staff is wonderful, they are very nice and willing to help with anything you need. Over the year I have worked here I have never had a problem with management or staff.

The job itself is manageable.  You portion food that came in from truck orders, cook food for customers, deal with them and make gratuities.

There would be alot of misunderstandings and mixups with reservations making us have to be on our toes last minute. Constant firings of employees for no reason and you would be required to fill in for their jobs. For example I was a cook but I was expected to bartend last minute or even customer service to assign people bowling lanes.

It was a fun place to work. It was easy to make new friends, some now life longer people in my life, gain lots of experience with children and adults. I learned how to deal with difficult customers and sometimes difficult children in a large group setting

The culture there is fun. It's a typical retail outlet even though I do not work in that capacity there. My only complaint is that getting traction on projects is slow going, and thus affects the amount of hours I work.

very unorganised, very dirty, management is terrible. Did not receive schedules, changed schedules daily. Was expected to do everything. Training is very poor. Very dis-functional.

On the outside looks a bit old and rundown but equipment and bowling experience are as good or better than any other. Great pro shop ,and great shot on the lanes, lane stops all but non existent

Birthday parties are great, they are fun, tiring and fast-paced. A lot of high staff turn over, but great people come in daily and lots of regulars that you get to see often.

bowling alley featured on TV. introduced new menu. staff are upbeat and courteous. updated the lanes with new wood. great food.

Under appreciated, over worked and no rewards.  Not recommended unless you know how to say "no".  No direction, no follow through and you basically have no life.
