A typical day at work is just like any other, the job becomes part of university life. Despite this however, what it often creates in students is a necessity for time management and a grasp at financial stability. The environment is very understanding of the limited time students have and often offer a compromise to employees that is reasonable. The hardest part of the job is being able to balance school life, social life, family life, and work. It can be mentally challenging to be on the run non-stop. The most enjoyable part of the job however is that it builds character and provides students who need financial aid with a way in which to accumulate savings or pay the bills without sacrificing their education in the process. It gets one to feel proud of themselves, and even more inspiring is knowing that those teachers and staff who employ you are also proud of you.

I absolutely loved working with Red Deer's street community through the SDA soup kitchen. The highlight of this job position was that I organized this University's very first Urban Trip, which took place in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Activities that this trip consisted of were volunteering at a soup kitchen, distributing candy bags to street workers with Agape Ministries, distributing ham reduction materials, and art therapy in a safe home for trafficked women which I facilitated

Being a lifeguard at the Burman University pool was a very good experience. The Pool Director and Assistant Director are very passionate about their jobs, and will always help lifeguards out! There are only two drawbacks: first, the Director likes to hire lots of lifeguards, so shifts are hard to come by. Second, shifts are unique and unlike most other pools (ex. only one guard on at a time, one hour shifts, etc.).

A typical day at work would be clocking in at 8am and having a short worship. Then everyone is assigned thier job for the day, everyone grabs thier supplies and keys to the building which they are assigned and off to work. We get an hour for lunch from 12-1. then work till 5. if we work a 8 hour shift, we get a  paid 15 minute break in the evening at 3.

Burman University was a working environment that I have grown tremendously as a young student. This job taught me the importance of hard work and professionalism in the workplace. I had great supervisors who cared not only about my work ethic but my wellbeing as well.

Receptionist/front-desk worker at Lakeview Hall Dormitory. Workplace had a moderate noise level, filled with university students.
Tasks include:
- Answering phone calls
- Booking guest rooms
- Responding to emergencies and alerting correct personnel

Short of staff on evening shifts. Best part of job was serving the students, which were from all over the world. Most were vegetarian so did learn how to cook different foods without meat.

Would recommend any student who needs work to apply here  . The work environment is Christian which was a plus. The physical structure of the place is very nice it allows for lots of movement ( walking around campus) .

If you should attend this wonderful school, I'm sure you will be integrated into a system of people that are multicultural and dynamic in relation, and support.

I love the workplace culture and I continue to enjoy working with an excellent Aquatic team.  I love teaching swim lessons and private lessons. People are always friendly!
