I worked for BusyBees for over 3 years as a Nursery Manager. The senior staffing structure meant that it was very difficult to get support and advice as the Area Managers had so many nurseries to oversee. 

The company focused heavily on staffing efficiency using a CTS which meant there was no wiggle room. I would often result to turning children away when we had staff shortages which resulted in angry parents.

As a Manager i would often find myself working in the rooms with the children and having to complete my office work in my own time which wasn't paid. 

Although the benefits and pay are good, BusyBees expected a lot for this and I often felt stressed and worried about work. This resulted in constant staff turn over at all levels including Senior Management - my Area Manager changed over 5 times in 3 years due to people leaving.

Busy Bees have to be the most awful company I have ever worked for.  Management are terrible, head office are worse " employees are only a number to us and easily replaceable" was unbelievably something that came out of the mouth of an area manager. 

Busy Bees do not care about their staff wellbeing and pretend that they care for the children but all they care about is passing the Ofsted inspection. Staff are put under immense pressure to perform ridiculous tasks with very little breaks and fill in stupid amounts of paperwork in their own time. 

I would NEVER work for this company again!!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The team were lovely - lots of knowledgable people to share experience and learnings with. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The hours - always low for staffing. In a management position you will never only work 40 hours. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful - you’re expected to cover a lot more than just your own role. Low staffing created negative atmosphere as it’s impossible to do your job well when you’re under so much strain from covering others. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, trying to be a cleaner, chef, practitioner and manager.

i learnt how to care for children and what it was like in a nursery enviroment. The hardest part of the job was that i wasnt given enough time to review all of the policies and procedures of the setting for my induction period which was six weeks. a typical day would include welcoming the children and playing with the toys with them and talking to them, i would also play outside with them if the weather was nice. i would also help out at lunch times either feeding the babies if needed or assisting other children and then cleaning up after. the most enjoyable part of the job was looking after the babies in the 0-6 months room.

When I started, everything was great. Then after a couple of months, it all started to go downhill. I worked there for about a year and started to realize that my experience as a childcare provider wasn't "good enough" for the new director. She always started an argument with me over petty things and didn't seem to realize that I knew what I was doing. This had caused a lot of stress on me resulting in being terminated.

I work for Busy Bees and they are a fantastic company to work for! They reward all staff for outstanding performance as well as inspirational teaching wth the children. The support network of the management team at head office and training academy create a robust structure which supports the nursery and staff.

I’ve never done corporate before and was cautious.  However I absolutely love it.  Clear defined role, excellent challenge, incredible support.  It has reignited my enthusiasm for my career.  Thank you Busy Bees I am blessed.

Tiring shifts and long shifts with inadequate breaks to rest, not for me but i can see why others would enjoy it

Relief staff dont really get hours apart from the odd week where its really busy but hours arent consistent

Children there are amazing and great coworkers but salary should be higher and you get overworked and are forced to do overtime without extra pay, management is kind 

Very bad. No support from Management. Management always first to leave. No regards or respect for staff, parents or children. Staff expected to stay late without notice and come in when sick. Ratios constantly broken.
