CAMP ARNES

It’s a pretty decent place if you go a try to make a difference in kids lives but it can be weighed down by drama of staff and leaders aren’t very helpful when it comes to the drama or when you and other employees need help most. Often times you are very very busy doing your job getting burnt out from long hours but at least you have a few minutes here and there for a chat with some friends you’ve made. You may meet some great people that you think you could be friends with them forever but be careful with that because if you ever leave camp and they stay you’ll drift apart from those friends and others that you thought were your friends will turn on you and management will completely disregard you from there on even if you reach out to them in the future. It’s a weird vibe at the camp and from lots of the people but the camp site it self is beautiful and as a camper it’s a great place. I just don’t recommend working for them.

I loved working at Camp Arnes, both in the summer and the year round, but there was a major flaw in the leadership. Many staff, including myself, felt like they were not cared for genuinely, and felt that the camp leadership mishandled certain staff members.

Lots of people throughout Manitoba know Camp Arnes, and it's a shining beacon in the Bible Camp scene, but the inner workings over the past couple years have been hard to want to continue working. Staff retention is low and employee care is not as it could be. Discipline is handed out to "non-important assets" but is withheld for people who have been in the organization for years.

It's fun during the summers; being at camp with campers and fellow counsellors is amazing, but even then, there's a degree of the problems I've stated. Could be a better atmosphere overall. Need to work on employee advancement and retention.

I have worked at camp for two summers now and have absolutely loved it. Every moment at camp has been filled with love and excitement. The community at camp it truly such loving one with people who are always willing to help out and work as a team; I have never experienced such a great community of people.  Camp has taught me so many things and has helped me grow into a leader as well as the confident, joyful, christian I am today. Camp is a fast-paced, stressful place to work but with the great community and the outstanding leadership I find myself always wanting to come back. Working with children can be difficult at times but helping them grow, experience things, as well as have fun with them is probably one of the most rewarding feelings. I have such a love and respect for what camp does, it is something really special and a great experience to be apart of!

Getting a job at Camp Arnes was a really good experience for me. I learned a lot and improved my skills in the workplace. I really enjoyed working there. Waking up early every morning was a little difficult, but it just meant I had more time to do what I went there for. The people there were very accepting and friendly and it made the experience better. It was the best job I've had so far. I really enjoyed teaching the kids and taking them out on trail rides with the horses. Spending time with the kids and getting to know them was a very important part, but remembering all their names was a challenge. It was a fast paced job that needed my full attention and making sure everything was done properly at every moment to make sure no accidents happened.

As an internship in Camp Arnes, I have had a wonderful time in this month. 

All my colleagues are patient and kind to teach me no matter what I ask (for work). 

The time in city office is flexible and I even passed my road test and IELTS exam this month. 

I have been to the camp site only once because I work in the city office, but the camp is impressive, the management is good because employees there all enjoy the job and they have so much fun together!

I don't get paid as an intern so I don't know how much is the salary, but they have updated all Apple products for employees for work efficiency, which also surprise me.

On the whole, if you are interested in working for camp and spending time with children, Camp Arnes is a great place for you to grow.

I started working at camp in 2016 and there are many benefits of working there. I've gained so many friends from this place and everyone was always so helpful when I was having a hard time with my kids or didn't understand something. 
This place pushes you to be a better person and a leader when other work environments don't. I wouldn't be who I am today if I didn't work at camp for the past 4 summers.
People who have had bad experiences either didn't communicate properly with a problem they have or they didn't expect the demands a summer camp ministry would have on them.
It is full-time work and you are worked to the bone but the feeling of giving your all is honestly worth it.

You would help all the campers, and work beyond a reasonable amount of hours, and have very little time off to rejuvenate including transportation time.
You ran an activity, and had to meet expectations, as well as do more things beyond what was expected of you to achieve the average work goal or else nothing would get done.
People would get mad and frustrated at you, just because you were doing your job.
You only got from $200.00 up to $230.00 a week, and worked over 12 hour days, not including meals.

Majority of the leadership failed to understand the meaning of integrity

Lacking trust in leadership. Never know what they would do next to cover their actions

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful where the ED would continuously spy on people to avoid possible stains on his record

A typical day at Camp Arnes was teaching and supervising children in archery lessons. I was the archery instructor. Mantaining safety for all was also essential during work. I learnt how to be more patient and time efficient. The hardest part of the job was keeping the children engaged and mantaining a peaceful environment. The most enjoyable part was interacting with children and informing in the arts of archery.

Camp arnes is a place where you grow a very strong bond with the people you work with. There is always something exciting happening during the day and making sure the kids are having fun was always my favorite part about being there.
