-Wage:
I worked as a supervisor at minimum wage. Question mark right there. Why do supervisors make minimum wage? 

-Uniform:
I got half a uniform, the shirt, and it was like three sizes too big. Had to buy the pants. When winter showed up, it took a while for them to provide us with winter jackets and toques. 

-Working Conditions:
I had to patrol different sites using the company vehicle. In worn down, all-season tires, throughout the entire winter. I almost died 3 or 4 times sliding and swerving my way through winter storms. Asking for winter tires was basically like asking for unicorns. They finally managed to get two of the four tires changed, but by then it was almost spring. They send their supervisors to patrol dangerous locations in downtown without any protective equipment or use of force training, or a partner. Like garage stairwells known for crawling with armed crackheads type thing. You're on your own.  

-Management:
The only person who made sense in the company was the manager, and she worked her butt off for the rest of us, so she gets 4 stars for management. The CEO is rude, disrespectful, and cheap, and he swears at his employees when he gets mad. Not impressed. 

Pros
Long hours for those who seek it & don't mind minimum wage. They always need guards for events.

Cons
Most of my work experience was through the hospital patient watches & events. Didn't gain any useful experiences or skills during my time with Capital which prompt my frustration to ask for a better dignified post. Though I expressed great interest to work other sites that allowed me to be more useful, communicate & attain new learning skills. Sadly, I was never given the chance to attempt an interview.

As a former guard who experienced subtle racism, if you happen to fall in the category of minority & aren't fluent in french. You will likely end up working outside for events: example EY Centre & Scotia Bank.

Partly, my reason for leaving the company was the lack of respect shown to me as an individual as I was just a another number to the agency. Now I work for a security company that respects me as an individual, offers great benefits, provides me the choice to apply for new contracts.

This company is a joke. I walked in yesterday with my resume and I was hired on the spot with no reference check or interview. Actually I had an interview but it was just the manager jabbering on about all the contracts they had and that they don't have direct deposit. So you have to drive all the way out there every 2 weeks to pick up your pay. They gave me some shifts and I called the next day and was met with the person over the phone giving me a ton of attitude and acting incredibly unprofessional. These are the kind of employees you get when you don't even do any kind of reference checks and hire people on the spot for minimum wage positions. Stay away from this company, there a lot of better ones in Ottawa.

The most enjoyable part of job is that it is a reputable job. It is very good job and and the management is very good, the best of the job is working as a team with other co-workers. I have learned a lot from this company as a part of the team, I learned how to cooperate with others.

it's a salary. advancement is slow and the work is all over the city. Good team for some events but in others it's all for one. management is effective when they want to be but mostly they just leave you on your own, unless someone needs to get blamed for something going wrong.

Capital Security in Cornwall seems mostly to obtain the city contracts for outdoor events.  There is a high turn over of staff and no full time positions. The hardest part of the job was allot of the contacts were short term.

Long hours with an unpredicatable shift. Little money and little respect. For someone looking to get into security it is an okay starting job. It is very much about who you know if you want to learn.

excellent job and management-in office-amazing company-treated like family-excellent time off and work experience.  i was treated so well i stayed for 3 years!!

basically a typical security company but has no benefits and is low in pay,the only fun part would be the concerts and the special events at various locations
