I was very fortunate to work with a fabulous supervisor who ended up being promoted within the company, rightfully so.  And the person who replaced him was just as supportive, patient, professional and always approachable.   Excellent company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only real stress was a very small percentage of the public we served.  We’re talking a minuscule amount.  The vast majority of people were a pleasure to be around.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Refreshing to see such a multiculturally diverse environment.  You’d think being in Toronto all companies would reflect our diverse population, but sadly no.  Carraway’s staff, from the office jobs to the public relations ones were represented by people from all walks of life.  It was beautiful to be a part of that.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Genuinely positive and enjoyable

A f/t position consists of three 1.5 hour shifts a day broken up by two 2 hour unpaid breaks. Employees are equipped with a stop sign and vest as well as the necessary weather appropriate clothing (toque, gloves, jacket, long and short sleeve shirts) for a small fee. Management is usually responsive but most supervisors are very hands off making it difficult to get clear answers or direction in times of need. There is no real sense of recognition of employee performance and this is reflected in the poor rate of pay and lack of supervisor support. The main reward of this job is community involvement. A great fir for a retiree, student or someone looking for short term work or minimal paid hours.

Very Poor management and complacent . There's no room to advance up to become anything. You try to call your supervisor and they generally don't answer the phone and if they do you get this form letter reply and they don't do anything to help you or fix your issue. I have met only a couple of the supervisors, mostly when I did training and they are young and have next to no experience in the work field. My supervisor I barely see, they are not there for the employees from the other crossing guards I have met on my way home.


I think my supervisor and the management at Carraway are people that are positive,  supportive and communicative when accomodating workers needs and their expectations.   
Of course an outdoor job can be tough in bad weather and it's an active position which at times can be stressful and tiring , but all in all, I have no complaints and believe that the pay is commensurate with the tasks demanded of the safety Ambassador  (crossing guard).

Supervisor was not good at his job very lazy

Being a crossing Guard you don't deal with the company the people you cross becomes like family

Pretty simple really just have to be in your spot at the start of your shift

With the big contracts is the only way you make money and they don't treat there workers with respect

When ever it's winter time you have to stand out in the cold!!!

They employ all Indians an treat who's not Indians as out sider

Very stressful and not accepted

When you are hired, they promised 30 hrs weekly but in reality 15 or 20 hrs shifts.  Shifts that you have not requested pop up in your schedule last minute.  You cannot trust your co workers.  The supervisors spend most of the shifts in their cars.  They write you up for little in-factions that occurs.  They make up mistakes that supposedly you made and fired you for no good reasons.  I would not recommend anyone to work for this company.  Carraway, are under The West Egg Group Company.

Carraway Safety is a good company to work for. However, the stress levels vary on several factors. Carraway safety works all over the Toronto ensuring the safety of everyone crossing the street, because we're crossing guards).   I  recommend you to be prepared for high stress situations because no two days are the same. (At least for me) Management is very understanding to the needs of their employees. so all and all I recommend carraway safety to anyone looking for a job which makes them a member of the community.

If you have cracked interview of this job . Congratulations you will be employed for just a day for the whole month . Scheduling Team and the supervisor are the worst . No response , they just cancel your shift on the day of the shift and give no response to any of your text or call . Literally for the past 6 months the maximum shift covered is 10-15 . It's better to continue searching for other job than getting recruited in this job .
