CDI TECHNOLOGIES

I work multiple departments in my almost 5 years tenure in this company, it had change names multiple times but dont be fooled, they still have the same trashy management top down. 

Majority of your tenure here are spent being dreadful about it, you will be overworked and underpaid, but they will instill to you that you should be thankful that you have a job. ( face palm) 

Hourly rate is the most reasonable pay style since they always ask people to work overtime and saturdays, as compared to salary position where your excess log hours are considered charity work and sometimes if work load demands they will force you to come to work no OT but free time off; but dont worry, they got you 1 slice of pizza or work in lunch, LOL.

Management culture is garbage in a sense that they treat people like a disposable piece of you know what; you will feel demoralize working here as they dont care what you think or feel, it's a just DO what I say environment or we fire you , feels like ghetto factory specially if you work in operations department, they want high volume while sacrificing quality which leads to angry customer and sales managers, then goes to no clue big boss CSR to fix to provide another garbage low quality refurb devices to the same angry customer. 

Either you aspire to work in operations, sales or csr department, avoid this please as it's not worth it, there are far more better companies out there that will treat you right. Trust me, I know. 

I was at CDI Technologies for 3 years and never received a raise until I switched positions. I researched my new position and knew I should be earning around 20k more than I was at least, however when I asked for that the best they could offer me was 2.5k more. Eventually I got them to 5k more. Unless you are a high performing sales person, stay away from CDI. You are expected to walk on eggshells around the sales reps and every rep is expected to be exempted from the established rules that are in place whenever anyone says no to any of their requests. If anyone on your team ever quits you will be expected to take on all of their tasks for no additional compensation. If you join the bids team, be aware that you will never earn any commission on any of the deals you complete, not even a free lunch. You have to work at the company for 5 years before your number of vacation days increases from the original 10. The company does not offer any paid sick days. There are some good people working for the company and occasionally you will feel a sense of accomplishment for getting something complete, but those moments and people are few and far between. If you go above and beyond, expect that to be considered your new normal and you will need to work at that level from then on. Management comes up with new initiatives constantly that are not thought out or tested before being implemented, causing chaos. The bathrooms are atrocious. The parking situation currently is absurd, and knowing CDI, likely won't be fixed for years.

Driver was the job title over there; however, I were working as computer technician, Quality Control Technician, Field Technician, Order Picker, Assistant Shipper and Receiver, Imaging Technician, Parts replacing technician (Bulk Computers), Network Technician. 

I did not get enough pay for the all the work I did. Also I could not able to leave for family vacation. So I walked out. The company management were trying to bring you down for their own purpose to spoiling your credibility you gained on the career field. 

Their hired a  few co worker; however, they are about to retired. They came to work place and didn't want to work. All the work load came to my head. Most co-worker I were working with are trying to get pay by sitting on the bed. 

The harder part of the job, managers never listen. sitting in back of the building, cracking bob corns. 

Gained some valuable experience by handling dell & Hp PC lines. The US & Canada governments are giving more opportunity do business.  These management are doing business by using that.

Pro:
It is easy to get into CDI. If you know how to find out the type of RAM, you are in. So very good for someone who is looking to get into IT or first job.

Cons:
There is no training even for the internal processes. So get there and get ready to hear "don't you know this"? although you are new. Do not expect the management to come to you and be polite. In job as soon as we saw someone being taken by one lady, we knew that the guy was being fired. I found it weird - someone comes to your desk, asks you to come and in five minutes, you are shown the door. 

During lean time, expect the hours to be reduced for one or two months.

Overall a good company to start with but nothing much. However, there are many people, who have been working here for years. So you might hear different views.

I learned a lot about repairing notebooks, as CDI was my first job out of school.  
Although I found that management does not treat the staff good.  People are not aloud to talk during work hours to other employees.  They bark orders at employees.  Most of the management doesn't even know what they are doing in there own positions, power has gone to their heads type.
There are a lot of cultures in the warehouse.  But I find that they seem to hire a lot of eastern people I think because they don't ask questions.  They don't know that they shouldn't be talked to or treated in the manner that they are.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the supervisor in the warehouse.
The most enjoyable part of the job was learning how to repair notebooks.  I really enjoy the hands on experience.

I like that company as it looks like family oriented company, Lot of pizza parties, Ice Cream , barbeques, great picnic every year, great Christmas party every year in Hotel with night stay. Management is honestly good, they respect employs.
The only bad thing is no increase in pay after even you get experienced and almost no chance of advancement in carrier and the work environment is dusty due to refurbished computers.

At CDI I was a receptionist and Accounting Assistant. I would perform the duties of a reception and also assist the Accounting Department. A typical day would include mailing invoices as well as other documents given to me. I would also sort the mail, answer the phones, provide assistance to employees and customers. I would also process, post and endorse the cheques for Accounts Receivable. I would also post invoices for payment. The most difficult part of the position was the overwhelming workload. I would often do overtime and the occasional weekend to complete my tasks as necessary. The most enjoyable was the vast amount of knowledge in my relevant field of study

I worked at CDI Computer Dealers full-time (More than a year), I did not feel that I had a secured job.
Company won't recognize for your good job, even if you work hard, but they will ask you why you were late 2 minutes, maybe a good company for beginners not for experience workers, not really organized and lack of training.
Worst management team I have ever seen, too many issues communication between departments, company wants to keep expanding without putting resources into each department to compensate for growth (extreme workloads on all departments)

Only positive about this company is the fact that some people who work there are really nice. Otherwise head for the exit sign. 

Poor management, lack of leadership, very high turnover, boiler room 'wolf of wallstreet' mentality with sales dept, inadequate training, exhausted sales leads and accounts, extremely shady business practices used by sales people, above all the main problem is the business model - selling refurb computers to schools, colleges, universities is a lost cause when trying to compete with real pc hardware companies ie. Dell, Lenovo, HP etc. In an extremely competitive small income potential market. 

I'd rather work at McDonalds for min wage any day!!

No help and clear instruction from the dept head to get to use to the job duty. No organization chart can be seen and unclear inter-dept communication channel. You will find yourself just running around and search for someone to get an simple answer. Logistics dept is a mess and no standard working procedure for you to follow which flight forwarder to use. Hired through non-government agency with subsidization and was terminated few months later. They keep on recruiting the same position with different name of title but do the same job duties. You will be regret to join this company and looks like they just see some positions as for short term and never see you as an asset.
