PROS: As a seasoned sales representative, i was shocked to find out i would be part of a family of over 100 sales employees. After a few weeks i realized that it made sense. Not everyone can sell and it's more about quality workers who can make them the most money. I was told from current employees that CDI is a commission based company that is in there highest peak.Unfortunately sometimes things do not work out. In my case, a learning experience.

I was organized into a team. Each team had a "Team-Lead". Fortunately my team lead was resourceful and always willing to help secure a my sales. Company seems to be headed in the right direction.

CONS:1. "Process" should be the companies slogan. My daily interactions included waiting on getting pricing and inventory available to sell. What typically takes 4-8 hours took anywhere from days to a few weeks for simple answers.

2. Pointless meetings. Wow, never in my career have i had so many in a week. Last time i checked, meetings are supposed to motivate and/or solve any potential issues. Thank you to my Team Lead for explaining that they force them on us because of the Sales leaders.


3. My third issue is with  the Marketing Lead. First thing, she is very arrogant and not how she appears. I had a simple request for material. Somehow it  became everything i did not ask for. The style of marketing is significantly outdated, let's stop overloading unnecessary content at everyone faces. On a bright note, the marketing admin's are accommodating. They are young and energetic. My main sales are credited to the the newsletters they create, wonderful work.  I've witnessed the Marketing Leads bullying, especially with her own team. Someone should do something about it.  Replace the Marketing Lead, simply not fit for the position.

4. The Sales Manager has the right leadership qualities, They need more like him. More focus on reality, not unrealistic goals.

Be prepared to work hard for pretty little to start. The base keeps you alive while you build a good book of business. Once you have established yourself it can be pretty lucrative in the long run. Phenominal training staff and training; it gets you ready if you know nothing. Pretty poor work life balance. CDW is adopting the trend of making employees seem like work is their home to work longer hours. Lots of free food, perks, incentives, bonuses to encourage you to think that way. Overall not for someone established in sales but really really good for a beginner. 

CDW is a great place to work due to the dynamic atmosphere and supportive coworkers. The position was a stepping stone for me and was not where I wanted to build my career, so it came time to part ways.

I learned a lot about IT as well as the sales profession, and built extensive experience managing customer relationships and coordinating various projects.

CDW allows its salespeople a lot of flexibility in how they conduct their business and invests a lot of resources in continued training and development. Company events allow coworkers to come together and bond in a friendly atmosphere.

As with any sales position, the job itself is the most daunting part - dealing with rejection, tough timelines, and the tedium of administrative tasks which can sometimes get in the way of revenue-generating activities. However, the challenge is its own reward for the eager salesperson.

I have been with CDW for 13 years in a number of different roles, all in the professional services area.  I enjoy what I do, and CDW is a company that cares about its employees. Like any job, there are good days and bad days, and nice people and not so nice people. 

I enjoy the amount of latitude I am given to both do my job and make decisions for how to handle my projects/programs for my customers. The engineering staff is fantastic, the talent pool at CDW is amazing. And the longer I work for CDW the more I get to understand the business and the other areas of the company, and I am more and more impressed with my coworkers and executive management.

The only thing that matters to CDW is sales.  SALES SALES SALES.  It doesn't matter if they customer is satisfied, only that the sale is made.  It doesn't matter if we sell them a solution that isn't in the best interest of the customer, only that the sale is made.  It doesn't matter if you've been working an account, or found a new account that wasn't being worked, as management will take it away and give it to one of their "stars", who quite frankly don't need more easy money.  Glad to be out of that snake pit.

I will say though, that many of the sales reps were good people, but the company really doesn't care about anything but the all mighty dollar.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You do your work with minimal supervion autonomously yet provided with all the support and resources you need

	Diagnose and resolve technical issues originating from customers, ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved through effective troubleshooting, escalation and teamwork.
	Actively reviewed and handled current configuration by taking corrective actions.
	Provided documentation and problem-solving procedures for use by the Application Support staff 
	Incident and Problem Management for quality, accuracy and timely resolutions of Client issues
	Monitor and generate weekly and monthly reports on Project activities, outlining and consolidating information about trends and for necessary changes & improvement activities

A typical day at work would look like 80 “touches” every day. That means I’ll need to make calls to customers and quotes – 80 of them every day. In addition to that I ‘ll need to check for product stock, respond to client’s e-mails and requests, release orders, trainings.
Building a book of business and developing relationship with customers, vendors, product specialists, distribution channels are among the most challenging but at the same time rewarding part of my job.
The amount of IT knowledge and information along with developing my  Sales skills are the main assets that I’m going to take away from this job.

The workplace is a mixture of seasoned inside sales reps as well as people just out of university. The atmosphere is one of inclusiveness.A typical day involved fielding customer requests for quotes, learning the products of multiple partners,sending and receiving approx 75-100 e-mails along with making approx 40-75 outbound calls. A very fast paced environment, with much learning and updating on new products.

-expectations are 80 calls minimum; cold calls to new potential clients
-follow ups, building a book of business and making sure your payout is correct from spiffs to commission being correct- is all on you 
-you have to rely on unreliable individuals to process pricing and orders 
-management sees what they want, will document and use specific examples to halt your career development if you challenge them (even by asking reasoning behind actions or ask questions)
