This company has really gone down hill since the original owner has stepped away from the day to day operations and has passed the company down to a former foreman.

Like any company that gets big, you're pretty much a number. Forget learning anything if you're an apprentice here. Even the self driven apprentices are not given much opportunities to learn as they are pigeonholed into tasks. If someone has never done a task before, they'll immediately get someone who has done the task before in order to maximize efficiency so they won't have to teach someone that.

Foreman's are all greedy and are always doing everything to save money to maximize their profits and get a huge bonus. I used to think really highly of this company because they paid really well, but they work you to the bone, and there isn't any incentives in doing so, as this is a "union" company (CLAC). The slackers who don't pull their own weight get paid the same as the people who work 10x as hard and actually care about this company.

It is a fast paced environment as well, as most of these sites are understaffed so some people have to work twice as hard to make up for the lack of employees on site, or sacrifice safety to get the job done a little bit faster (hammer drilling without a respirator, grinding without safety glasses, respirator, face shield)  

The people who come here for 8 hours of pay are happy, and the people who actually care and do a decent job don't get rewarded.




Interview was an hour long. The office doesn’t answer any emails? If you need vacation pay or take days off you need to write it yourself on their very slow tablet which has to be done two weeks prior or they will deny your request. Very inconvenient when they have an office full of people which they will say no or not even reply to your email. They will also be passive aggressive when you email them and not use the tablet. Pay is fair but little to no benefits and to qualify for benefits you cannot miss work. Safety courses and any certification are done on your own time and you will not be paid to do it. They say their a union but if you work with the union against them they will fire you. Bring your own tools, bring them home with you because they are often stolen and will not be compensated. The power tools they provide are not enough, old, and often broken. Very little overtime. Good job security but no room to learn or grow. The workers are nice but management needs help. Good job to work at if you like mindless work. 

I have been working here for 4 years and will finish my apprenticeship next year. The job is not always easy but they gave me an opportunity that no one else would.  they are very fair wages equal to others in the city but i see that many of us are kept busy during slow times when many of my friends have been laid off at other companies. 
They have always been good to me making sure that I have experience in all parts of the electrical trade. I have learned everything from suite wiring to distribution installation and generator connections.
I like that my boss here actually knows me and seems to want to make sure i get trained in all areas.

They work you hard, and treat you poorly. Most good workers have moved on. They pay alright for a non union company but most workers here are miserable. Foremen mainly get promoted because they have stayed with the company for a long time, not because they are the best option for it. They only do high rise residential so it is very boring, lots of slab and rough in. They don't really try to teach everybody new things its just go go go to make profit.

Pretty much I keep my head down and work. This company has ruined electrical and have turned it into an assembly line. Pretty much I'm a laborer. I used to think highly of this company but all the company does is make you work to the bone and their is hardly an incentive to.

I'm sure with any company that turns big this is bound to happen. I will work here until I find another job because it pays the bills.

Chambers is not a bad company, but not a good one neither. They can work very chill but really depends on foremans. Big company with good control in number of employees, so you never run out of works. However sometimes you just stuck in one position for quite a long time maybe a year. Their paid not too low but not fair enough. And they only do high rise. 

the job is not easy all the time - slab seems ot be always winter and rough in and finishing are always summer. Worked now for 2 foreman - current one is much friendlier but they are both fair and organized. Never ran out of material like my old company. Hope i can stay here for my whole apprenticeship well managed company with friendly employees.

Depending on the job and foreman, you will always have a chance to learn new things, not necessarily pigeon holed into one job forever.
Also, many opportunities for advancement within the company, like trusted to lead a small group if you show enough initiative and competence. Employees they like they treat great and at the other end of the spectrum, you’ll know if you aren’t.

Love working at Chambers Electric. Great group of guys. Good environment to work in.  They pay well and give long term employment rewords for their time. Decent benefits to go with wages. 

i worked hard but only guys who goes to top are foreman’s favorites. people who comes to work for 8hrs pay are happy. people who cares about company are not. 
not as it used to be. 
ron needs to do undercover boss. half of the guys would be fired.
