CHAMPLAIN MANOR

My interview and employment offer led me to believe I was joining a great company and team also my immediate manager. This turned out to be the opposite.  After personal time completing online courses and 2 weeks of training I got no feedback from my manager of my progress etc.  This left me feeling like I was just a body at reception.  After resigning no follow up on why just acknowledgement accepting my resignation. Then came final paycheque and no compensation for online courses their explanation I didn’t complete a course.  This sealed my decision for leaving was a good one. It’s not so much the money but the principal of it. 

Staff b**** and complain all the time. Such a toxic work environment. I started eating my lunch in my car so I didn't have to listen to it. Management is an absolute mess. Most nurses that work here are absolutely miserable and treat everyone like garbage. Wouldn't put my loved ones in this home if my life depended on it. Overall the work environment is the worst Ive ever experienced. Don't waste your time applying here as they pay next to nothing anyways. 

ALSO- this is supposed to be a "retirement home". This is pretty much a full on nursing home that is NOT equipped to run as such.

awful place to work! staff are miserable, its hot even in the summer, they leave the heat on always! no communication whatsoever! the male nurses don't do their jobs, dietary staff changes shifts all around and gets others confused. manager does nothing if there is something wrong. i wouldn't bring my grandparents/parents into a horrible place like that!  

I did not enjoy working at Champlain Manor. Felt very unorganized. Co-workers were rude, and one gave me false information while training me. 
Hardest part of the job was serving breakfast, was very unorganized and confusing. Too fast pace, felt like I was being rushed or I would get in trouble.
Most enjoyable was talking with the residents.

Management at this facility are knowingly negligent to residents and staff

Dangerous place to work as necessary & required  medical technologies are out-dated & redundant - Often out of order, yet we still have to use with residents if possible.

Chronically & Critically Short-Staffed

Horrid low.staff.. always short staff by multiple call ins.   Veteran staff always call in and management never says anything to them.    Nights are dangerously low staffed. Had multiple back injuries and patients always yelling at you for not being on time

I believe if your a student this job would be well suited for you , its 2.5 hour shifts and all shift are spot shifts , there are wonderful people to work with and the residents make the job worth while

a stressful working environment with not much support or guidance. Too much to do and never enough time to do it in. Not a place to go if you wish to work in a supportive, positive environment.

If you are looking for part time, I would recommend Champlain Manor. They are willing to work with you if you want to try another position in the company.

The work itself is fulfilling because you are helping with the needs of Seniors, and you know you are needed. It is a pleasure to work there and I am always happy to go in for my shift.
