First of all Way to many bosses, two supervisors who run the show, can barely make a schedule every week for the employees, so your always guessing your shifts that are all over the map, they will lie to you in the interview making it sound good of course. The City is one big fake smile, All of the workers that are grown men don’t  do anything but sit around & talk about each other, bunch of spoiled rotten babies, they will stab you in the back for sure, trust me horrible place to work 100% don’t waste your time as they will waste yours. 

High salary in a small city, with great benefits. Great people to work for; unfortunately, very little opportunity to climb higher ranks within the company due to little available openings.

Overall, great experience and would work at an entry level position if given the chance; even with the unlikely chance of promotion; as the work atmosphere is dreamed upon throughout all companies.

Great place to work, great training on jobs and equipment you are expected to operate. Great bunch of people to work with, people are very inviting, friendly and helpful when first starting a new job. Management is also very professional, helpful and approachable. Definitely would recommend working for the city of Cornwall! By far the best job I ever had. Proud to be part of the team. 

The work it self if fine. Upper management is terrible. The wage is extremely low compared to every other municipality at about the population. Hopefully with a new mayor and a new CAO things turn around. It would also be helpful of the negotiation team stops pushing back meetings. The contract is outdated by 3 years and they refuse to come to any agreement with the municipal works union.

Toxic work environment, they don’t care about their employees. They make you feel easily replaceable and invaluable. It’s all about who you know when it comes to growth. HR works backwards. Experience and education are irrelevant when it comes to advancing in your career. It’s all about who you know/nepotism. Management only care about power/money/status. Avoid this employer at all costs.

The City of Cornwall is a great place to work for! Any job with the city is a blessing. Great hours, amazing pay, friendly staff. The management is really hands on and helpful. If you want to advance, they’re really there for you and help guide you through what you need to advance.

Don’t ever think your manager will give anything. They take and take and take, then micromanage everything. 

They won’t give proper chairs or work station set ups to do your job comfortably or safely. Health and safety doesn’t take those complaints seriously.   

Dress code isn’t inclusive of all genders and identities. 

Subpar care.
Subpar management .
Staff and management neglect residents. 
Drama and sexism.
Ruins relationships.
Cliques and harrassment.
Would not recommend to have your loved ones cared for in the long term care home, with the blatant neglect within all departments.


Toxic! Management lacks transparency, plays favorites, and discourages employee growth. Culture is negative, with little support or accountability. The hardest part is working under poor leadership, while the only positive is helping coworkers and employees despite the toxic environment.

Cornwall ie a Great place to Live ,Work and Play with employees can enjoy the time off with their family with great arenas, a great swimming facility along with others amenities for family fun.
