I arrive at work by 7:15 am, When I get here I go to the Lunch room and have a quick coffee and snack before going to the meeting room to get out assignments. Everyday you get one morning assinment and one afternoon assinment, They provide you a cellphone just incase if you get lost. Also when you arrive at the Customers house you have to call dispatch and they will inform you what time it is so you can write it on your work order. after the work is done and you leave you have to call dispatch again and inform them that the job is done and again they will give you the time and your put the information on your work order. At the customers house you can either do heavy house cleaning which requires 2 people or light house cleaning which requires 1 person. I love this job because after your done doing the job the seniors have a HUGE smile on their face and it makes me feel good about myself! Unfortunatly it is only a 6 month position. After 2 months you can either do Dispatch or Reception. If you don't have an assignment then you go to the JRA (Job research area) and search for jobs and hand out resumes.

The welfare office shovels you into this program in order to get you off of welfare after 6 months.  It is not like you have a choice and the staff and management in the program do nothing to mediate disputes between participants in the program.  Management will belittle educated people and promote non-educated people who look down on you because they are Supervisors.  All in an effort to get you off welfare and you better have another job to go to after you are done with this program because the only EI benefits I got paid totaled less than $200 every two weeks.  How is that enough to live on?

working at community home services was good, I worked for the elderly and disabled, we stayed at the clients house for a minimum of 2 hrs to help them clean and disinfect the clients home. some clients would have outdoor cleaning of the yard or ask the workers to do gardening or planting. clients had to provide tools and essentials for the workers.

I have currently been working at community home services program providing home and yard care service to low income seniors and people with disabilities the program was perfect for me because they had provided me with the opportunity to gain experience and learn new skills management was great as well

Meet new people almost everyday

Mostly clean floors, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, mop, vacuum and dust

Co-workers are great to work with and friendly

Management easy to get along with

Snow Shoveling is the hardiest part of job.

The most enjoyable is helping out the customers

I  was at work and I helped my boss he was out of tools then he asked to go to the store and I buy him some so I felt good that could help him.i learned to always help the boss no matter how mad they get us all my co-workers were gald I helped the boss I love this job because I can see that I can do things better then at home.

They travel on buses and go to seniors homes to clean,bathrooms,bedrooms,kitchens,sweep,mop,vaccum,dust the furniture. They also cut grass in summer and other yard work like shovelling in winter.The seniors are happy and thankful.

Working at CHSP has been a great experience. The program offers helpful training and paid work experience that really helps you build skills for the future. They also provide support to help overcome any challenges you might face while looking for work.

I would typically clean apartments and houses, sometime we provide companionship for the clients as some are isolated.  I had great job satisfaction here as the clients loved the work I done for them and the company I provide.

Was awesome to work for them, but awful bus system. 

I loved visiting with the clients after the work was done, have tea or watch a show with them until it’s onto the next client! 

The buses in the winter were horrendous, as to be expected.
