Depending on what the job was at the time a typical day at work would be meeting at 6:30 am for safety meeting and signing of safety sheets. Usually the Foreman would have odd jobs lined up here and there so I would work on those tasks until coffee time, which would be at 9:30. After coffee, depending on if I was able to finish my tasks, I would be given another task to finish, otherwise I would continue working on my first task until it was completed. Lunch would usually be at 1:00 until 1:30 and then the rest of the day would consist of finishing odd jobs and cleaning up, and then home time would be at 4:00. 
             I learned so much from working there only for 5 months, I learned how to bend, run and hang pipe, splice wires, mount 4x4 and KSSX boxes as well as octagonal boxes, wire plugs, light switches, and light fixtures, pulling of wire through pipe and splicing it to boxes, strip wire, learned how to use specific tools for the right job, and be self motivated and to figure out what I had to do next.
             The management team there was phenomenal, very well organized and had a great overall perspective of what was happening at each job site. They were an efficient and friendly group of people as well.
             The co-workers there were very friendly, easy going, funny, and all around great guys. Even some of the more experienced workers would stop whatever they were doing just to show you how to do certain tasks and how to complete them the best way. They would test your knowledge and quiz you sometimes so you will know for the future.
             The hardest part of the job would differ on different days. For example, if I was given a task to complete and I was finding it very difficult to complete I would not give up but try and try again until I was able to complete it. Normally it would take the 5th or 6th try before I finally got it. For me that was the most difficult part of the job.
             The most enjoyable part of the job was just showing up in the morning and being given tasks to complete by myself without someone hovering over my back making sure I did it right. I liked having that independence and that for me was the most enjoyable part.

I had been in the industry for a few years prior to being hired and indentured back in 2014 as a 1st year apprentice.
First and foremost, I had the opportunity to work for other companies around the city, but I had an interview at Crestview that went extremely well and something told me this was the place I wanted.
My criteria: 
▪I wanted to be a name in the company, not a number. Larger companies like T&M and Custom were just too large for me to feel like I'd feel valued.
▪ I wanted the front office to be fiercely competitive. Business is a dog eat dog world and I wanted to work for a company that would fight tooth and nail to land contracts that kept boots on the ground. 
▪I wanted to learn from the best. As I've said before, I've worked in the industry prior to coming to Crestview and most of the time it was a lot of being told WHAT to do and not WHY we do it. Being able to learn from top shelf Journeyman and Apprentices that care about their work makes getting up in the morning (and it's early) far more tolerable. As a plus, their good work habits inspire your work habits and before you know it, you're on a team of all-stars.
▪ I wanted to work at a place that didn't feel like work. This might be the most important one. I didn't want my job to feel like it was a nagging tumor in my life. I wanted to be excited to get up in the morning and get to site, to see the crew, to crush a few tasks, and at the end of the day, go home not feeling like I hate my job and needing to find a new one...again.

Crestview had all of these, in Spades. I love the people I work with and work for. I've learned an incredible amount from all of them and discovered a few great things about myself along the way. As an apprentice looking for a career in the wild and crazy life of a sparky, this place will never stop teaching you the best way to do your job quickly, efficiently, and properly. As long as you put in the effort to learn and adapt, you cannot fail.
Definitely the best company I've worked at. And God willing, the last.

Your experience at this company will largely depend on your foreman. Certain foreman at this company are amazing and will show you the world as well as treat you with respect. Other foremen at this company will belittle your intelligence and get angry at you anytime you need something explained. Sadly these foremen are seemingly kept around and in some cases even promoted. Crestview needs to realize having foremen who treat their crews like garbage damage company moral as well as decrease productivity and incentive to stay at the company long term. I understand construction is a stressful industry however calmly explaining things to confused apprentices is a million times more effective than treating them like garbage.

- Committed, people oriented 
The management at the site were very committed people about the employees’ wellbeing. They were people oriented in that the employees’ needs come first followed by the project process.
- Productive, dependable and accommodative 
The management team established an environment of working with all employees alike to successfully complete the project on time by working with all skill levels while assuring everyone to play their part.
-Encouraging, motivating and engaging 
The management team kept us engaged throughout the project process by encouraging everyone to do more with the provision of motivational tokens given to the best crew and group lunch at every milestone achieved.

I worked at Crestview for most of my apprenticeship. It's simple with Crestview: if you can get along with your co-workers, work hard and apply yourself, you can obtain good electrical experience.  They will hold on to you as a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and  maybe 4th year if you do these things and they have work.

Experience varies per person. I obtained great work experience(as an apprentice), then went on to work at other companies  as a journeyman/foreman successfully.  Some continued at Crestview as a  journeyman, foreman.

 It will go down to what YOU make of it, mixed with  a bit of luck(I.e. who you learn from, how much work they obtain while you are there).

What is the best part of working at the company?
It's the opportunity of taking up different roles and different areas(residential , commercial, industrial and solar) in the electrical field.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I do not see any stressful part in job as I take each day as it comes and open to every challenge it poses.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a very friendly environment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It's very tasking. Presently at the new site, I take on more responsibilities, so I look forward to accomplishing any task given and in record time.

I was fortunate enough to work at Crestview Electric for 3 years while I was in Calgary. I truly loved going to work everyday.  We had an amazing office dynamic with 15 people in the office and more than 130 employees on site. Upper management made our environment easy to work in and offered assistance and encouragement if needed. There were 5 females in our office and everyone of us got along!! My boss always said that is almost unheard of!!  I miss my coworkers very much and am very grateful to have worked with each of the girls and the Project managers at Crestview Electric Ltd!!

worked here for all of my apprenticeship and some time after. Was always given a chance to learn new concepts and work on a variety of projects. They really want you to succeed and seem to understand that happy employees make efficient and profitable employees.

Mostly commercial projects so a person could wind up with skills lacking in industrial or residential if they don't do side work or seek out a different experience in their apprenticeship. That's a personal choice though and cannot really be held against a company.

I really enjoyed the workshop provided by the company, and I appreciate the effort the company puts into developing apprentices into skilled professionals. The good people, excellent foremen, and the supportive coworkers who kindly help me learn and improve every day make this environment truly fulfilling. Although there are times when I feel overwhelmed due to the many things I don’t know, I remind myself that it’s natural and part of the process. This supportive and encouraging environment motivates me to do my best, and I’m personally very satisfied with it.

Great company to get your feet wet with if you're starting out in electrical fields, not because it's easy work, but because if you can survive here, you can probably survive anything. Hours are long and there's chronic under-staffing and supply chain problems. Pay is decent at the start, but don't expect much growth, benefits are average, and don't expect much from foremen or supervisors.
