Working at Crystal was a good experience since it has some manufacturing processes done in house. I saw how ideas flow from the planning stage to actual product development in house and all the way to a the job site in various projects. The workplace culture was really interesting as I got the freedom to try out many styles of working. I worked in the creative dept for 4 years. In those years i've spent at Crystal, I had a great supervisor who guided me different ways of thinking critically. I was the first person hired onto the creative team so one of the challenges was finding the right path for the company to steer towards. Often ideas are put to rest because of many conflict with old styles of thinking vs the new. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting the opportunity to work with great minds. I enjoy trying out new things and trying to come up with more efficient ways in doing things for the company. I also enjoyed travelling opportunities that this job had to offer. All in all, i think this company is striving for constant development and perfecting the water feature industry helping people put a smile on their face!

I would avoid this place like the plague. In the over 2 years I was there, we went though four managers, and five of the employees I worked with quit. Your are often pushed into overtime, missing family events to finish projects that sit in the shipping bay for months or for jobs that are canceled. Management will often tell you that you are wrong, then when the system they set up fails, you will be blamed. Health and safety is approached from a corporate view and the result is lots of policy but poor safety, eg. if you cut your hand its cause you weren't wearing gloves, if you were wearing gloves they weren't the right ones. If they were the right gloves you must have not been following proper procedure. They will hire you at a below market wage to "see if it works out" but after you've proven its working "there's no room in the budget". And as for my experience, if you just try to do your job and what is encompassed by that description you will be called in and let go for not going above and beyond. I was expected to perform work that I was not trained for that was outside of my pay grade if I wanted to keep my job. 

Joining Crystal Fountains has been a smooth and exciting process. Learning all the aspects of such a client success driven company has been eye opening and a pleasure to know the processes involved in manufacturing to design, tech to project completion and everything in between. The Crystal culture is inclusive, diverse and grounded within a welcoming team who clearly love what they do. I have learned far more than I could ever have imagined in a short period of time. I've found the onboarding process, and the whiteboard process as a way to both communicate, plan and execute projects, has been thorough and a way to get to know the various teams (design, customer service, manufacturing, etc.) and the way that Crystal works. Coming from a Mac world into a PC platform has been a learning curve for me, and met with support, patience and laughs. 

My overall experience has been very positive and as I look for a new team member, I know that I'll be bringing them into a workplace where they will thrive. 

I worked there for almost a decade in senior management.  Some great people have gone through there over the past 2 decades but most eventually left because of the long hours and the politics with the current second generation owners and their many broken promises to both staff and clients. 

Their current 2018 staff has very little experience in the design and construction of the water features they profile.  They can supply products but not  the expertise or project management required for water feature projects.  

There are much better industry partners than these guys.  They will knock off products and working partners and appropriate design credit whenever they get a chance.  There are now many more affordable commercial product lines available to the industry without having to deal with the politics of working with this company..

They have such a huge variety of jobs, product design, manufacturing, creative design, software development, landscape design, it's amazing for such a small company. Team players come from all kinds of backgrounds. They are very welcoming and positive to new people. If you show that you are capable and trustworthy, you will get a lot of freedom to do your job.
The company is very innovative, so it is hard to keep up with the rate of change. But that can be a great part of the challenge. Crystal works globally with many of the top companies in architecture, as well as world renown artists. Our customers are demanding as a result, so you have to bring your best to work.

I worked for 4 years and I was never sent to a course or professional training, the company takes advantage of your knowledge for nothing, the salary is slightly more than minimum wage, you will never but never receive an increase even if you received a promise, they will always find a reason why you did not meet the goals.
They will kick you out for no reason, and tell you they don't have to give a reason.
Senior management positions are filled by mentally ill people. You have to be careful of their whims. If you show too much professional knowledge, you will find yourself fired, because you are a threat to your manager.

When it comes to saving money, Crystal will purposely look for ways to fire someone in order to make their ends meet. They operate in a very volatile industry, and this type of behaviour will happen more frequently than management will openly admit. Fountains are often the first thing to be removed from a construction project when budgets become compromised, making their business very insecure. Unless you are part of the family that owns the company, your or have political leverage, your job is not never safe.

Crystal Fountains is the poster child of entitled, greedy owners, passing on the same top-down, all-boys-club culture to the next generation of their family. Poor standards regarding ethical behaviour are rife. Instilling a culture of favouritism, and hostility to everyone outside of the family or senior management circles. Life is too short to sacrifice your time and quality of life in such a toxic workplace.

Don’t shame people for reviewing your company poorly based on your inability to be ethical employers. You brought this on yourselves. This sounds like a you-problem.

While working here, you will realize that most of your peers may not be qualified for their jobs. But management keeps most of them around because of a close family association or internal political leverage. Grandfathering in unqualified individuals into managerial roles or positions they have no business being in.

Growth in this company is only possible if it aligns with internal political agendas, not skill or qualifications. 

Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know the full story behind their promotion or isn’t willing to share it.

Crystal Fountains is a family-owned business in a small industry. Not a lot of water feature companies worldwide.

I have been given many opportunities to grow, improve my skills, professional development and advance my career during my tenure. Management does not hand feed opportunities, but is open to dialogue and giving chance for employees to prove themselves. 

It is not perfect, but the team and ownership care about the company and the people who work there.

It's a shame to see all the "fake news" posted about Crystal Fountains. Doesn't paint a true picture of the place.
