There is zero organization, not enough training and unprofessional management. At a job site told to pick up garbage and used needles. After bringing up health and safety concerns to our manager, my team lead and I were gaslit and told that these concerns are invalid. We received zero training on not only sharps safety but other onsite training was not performed. To handle sharps there are teams sent out in Hamilton, harm reduction teams that clean up the needles safely. There is training for this, including a course on Blood Bourne pathogens, proper PPE and training on safety. None of which is conducted through CSL. After a conversation with management, we were left feeling unheard and brushed aside. After calling HR I was not left feeling any better about the situation. I have the right to refuse unsafe work. There was many conversations of customers being unhappy about garden maintenance, which was untrue clearly when said customers would come to the on-site teams and tell us we are doing a good job. It is not right to be lied to by management for an unknown reason. A second situation to mention, I had gotten heat stroke during a shift and was told I shouldn’t be feeling that way and it’s not appropriate to be trying to go home. Again being gaslit by management because they want you to continue working. Feeling unwell and unsafe is something tot ale seriously. I only worked for the company a month before leaving. This is not a good place to work.  

Terrible place to work completely unprofessional . Management is ther root of the problem here they will use u and demand you to work long hours them let you go I once it slowes down . I never received a 3 month review, was never trained on the equipment that I was asked to use to learned on my own or little training would refuse to let u leave even after working 13 hours or more and would ask that u come in again as soon as possible, they go not pay overtime or any holiday pay and will starve you for hours once ur role is done they literally will give u new schedules almost every week and will always blame u if. My problems should occur I honestly did nothing here but ask for s set schedule witch I was told I would get i never did please don’t waist your time here because it means nothing to them head of office has literally said this they only care about profits and will get rid of u if u do not fit In or walk in the office and gossip . To conclude stay away they will not be here long

CSL Group is a very experienced company that gives you just as much as what you put in. They are the first to grow their internal staff by offering additional training and courses to further your knowledge at their expense to help you grow your career. 

There is a lot of seasonal staff that come in with unrealistic expectations and want more money for less work. This is where CSL Group is different, they will take the time to work with these staff but if nothing can be done, they remove them from this equation not to effect the great team members they do have. Everyone I know in the company that puts in a solid work effort day in and out, has been promoted and or given a leadership role in the field. 

like all companies in this industry, the hours work around mother nature so rain, snow etc can effect our hours but when it is time to rock and roll, they are ready to provide us with all supplies and requirements needed to get the job done safely and in a timely manner. 

CSL Group is a very family oriented workplace. Monthly appreciation BBQ, excellent COVID-19 percautions in place. Great staff members, teams work together to help each other when in need. Through CSL I have obtained multiple certifications, CLT, Book 7, my AR Class License, Pesticide License, First Aid Training, at CSL we do a variety of jobs. Honestly the best workplace I have ever been with in the Landscaping industry let alone the benefit package, no other company has had benefits like this!. I found a career in something some people only see as a job, however that's not the case at CSL. This is the landscape construction company that turns regular jobs, into careers for there employees!

The Whitby branch has some major flaws, managers don't communicate and are never at work, typically you only see them if there is a problem or they come to give someone trouble, they are untrustworthy and tend to blame management issues on the employees. HR doesn't respond much at all so if you have an issue it will likely go unresolved, and the entirety of the work experience is stressful. Understaffed, and overworked expect management to take on projects that they know they don't have the man power or skills for, and expect, as an employee, to be blamed when the job was done wrong or late. Finally one of the most frustrating things to deal with is pay being done wrong, which is a bi-weekly occurrence. 

Although these issues exist I can't pretend there was nothing good. there are a few rare occasions where people are selected to do training to get extra certificates, and there is a BBQ once a month.

This establishment is absolutely terrible. I’m not one to complain but over the past few months it has been beyond terrible.(they blame it on restructuring but they’ve been restructuring for about a year now) The TERRIBLE management staff have zero knowledge of what’s going on in the field. Summer hours are great, winter hours and far & few in between and be PREPARED to have no hours or very few. Pay is sub par when you do actually have jobs that are in progress. I’m embarrassed that I worked here and wasted my time. Little to no advancement and everyone has a poor work attitude (but they’re great workers who are trapped) , but the company BBQ will fix all those issues no problem lol. A raise isn’t even a word or topic within the office because of restructuring, they don’t have the funds needed they say repeatedly 

VERY HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK! i was putting in 130 hours bi-weekly and they still told me i wasn't doing enough. the people you would be working with will gossip and spread rumors about you. they are very judgmental people and only do things to benefit themselves. i worked there for over 2 years and always skipped out on family events and birthdays because they "needed someone in" I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. they will leave YOU high and dry and won't think twice. They don't think about safety. just want the job done so they get their money. management is VERY horrid and they cant even pay people correctly. there is a lot of fishy things that go on in this company! please don't apply or take a job offer here

This place is an absolute joke. Breaking Laws DAILY. Not professional whatsoever. Management is a joke. No care about employees whatsoever, literally willing to put employees in direct harm and laugh about it. Can't even do basic math to get your hours right. They run every good employee right out the door because it's an absolute gong show there. Biggest waste of my time, felt like I lost brain cells just talking to management. I wouldn't take a million dollars to go back there. Feel bad for people who are stuck working there as it is an extremely  poor work environment. If the higher ups for this company don't do something about management in the Whitby location they will most certainly have a law suit if not multiple on their hands soon enough. 

If you’re a good worker they will promise you the world and give you nothing. They got me to work for them by telling me they would give me benefits off the hop to come work for them. So I canceled my other interviews since I have children and benefits would be extremely useful. Ended up giving me $25 an hour and I waited almost 3 months and still didn’t hear anything about the benefits. Ottawa branch will tell you what you want to hear and then when it’s time to hold up their end, you become annoying and should just be happy to get paid. Would not recommend working here. They hardly have enough equipment for their work load and the equipment they have is barely hanging on. 

My experience with this company was disappointing. Despite years of dedication and hard work, I found the organization lacked transparency and consistency when it came to employee treatment and decision-making.
Management frequently communicated changing priorities, making it difficult for employees to plan and perform effectively. Morale appeared to decline over time, and many employees felt their contributions were undervalued.
The most concerning aspect was the lack of communication surrounding employment decisions. Employees could be let go without clear explanations, creating uncertainty and a lack of trust within the workplace.
