The clients are amazing. Enjoyed being out in the community. 
Management is only about benefits to within the office examples statutory holidays that front line staff don’t get. It should be equal all across the board. No bonuses since the original owner left. Pay is lower , no raises. If you work hard and are a good employee you should get raises. The wear on your car and only compensated .30 km. The office staff gossip a lot. You have to pay for mandatory training. When Covid first happened office staff got to stay protected at home while we needed to go a risk our health and safety and when expressing our concerns it fell on deaf ears. We weren’t even eligible to receive the 1200$ from the government but we’re considered essential? This is when I decided this company lines their pockets at the expense of others. An agency shouldn’t be run by staff it needs a board of directors so they are held accountable to someone.

This agency has an excellent workplace culture where diversity and inclusion are highly valued and the client is always top of mind. 

Staff and clients are always smiling, friendly and engaging. The pay is not necessarily competitive with some parts of the corporate world but the work is much more rewarding than you will find in most organizations and it's very stable. There are many employees who have been with the agency in excess of 15 years. The pay is competitive with other organizations like it.

Management did go through a rough spell in 2018 when two Directors unexpectedly parted ways, and a 3rd went on a long term leave of absence but senior management has improved dramatically as of late now that they have been able to work through that disruption.

Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) is a great supportive organization. All of the programs and services are client centered, no matter what the client needs or wants he/she receives. Along with recreational and fun activities everyone participates in, the individuals are also assisted with daily living skills and receives help in their workplace. Although assistance is required within their jobs and skills, the client has independence to accomplish as much on their own as they can. 
From CASS I've learned patience, how to teach the individuals with various learning strategies, and how to cope and handle each persons disability. The most rewarding part was knowing I was making a difference in someones life regardless of long or short term effects.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I am working with CLAS since 3 yrs as sub contractor. Customer service is very professional and knowledgeable. They are providing great help our community. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Clas have zero tolerance for negligence . You always alert and responsible for your duties and all protocols and procedures. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very Helpful,Professions  and friendly environment. They always emphasize and educate their staff. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When anyone ignores any safety protocols or company guidelines.

I have been with CASS for approximately 3 years. I work with a great team and have a manager like none I have worked with before. My Manager is knowledgeable and very understanding and supportive.

CASS has supported me in many ways through personal career development and a flexible work schedule which is important to me as a single mother. 

I am grateful to be working for a company with a purpose. I am also excited to see what the future holds for CASS as they continue to grow. 

Some clients can be difficult and require a large level of patience, however, management is always available for support and strategies. I never felt like I was unsupported. Day plans are collaborative between the client and staff, and a large level of autonomy and independence is awarded to staff who are capable. Fun and interactive with the community.

While employed as a CSW it was a fun job. Other CSWs were very supportive and helpful when learning the role. Client caseload can also impact job satisfaction.  Clients who are active and engaged are great to work with. In an ideal situation,  Coordinators would pair staff with clients based on mutual interests.

No stress, a great atmosphere and super friendly welcoming environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Always a learning experience type of day.

You meet the clients usually at the office and then take them to their activities. CASS does a great job of organizing group activities (bowling, movies, library, sports), as opposed to letting you alone in the community with the client. They really love meeting other clients and making meaningful connections.
CASS will reimburse for mileage up to a certain limit.
