management throws phones at employees faces and assaults employees  causing them harm, also constantly yelling and belittling all employees while selling narcotics to equipment operators, and other employees in the yard. Yet still employed as a manager with the CEO'S knowledge. Very unhealthy air quality in the yard. CEO's dog biteing employees and contract workers. Operators are unsafe, hitting employees with scrap appliances, or knocking large heavy pieces of metal on them while they are in there designated area working, then they fire the injured person.

This company has the worst managers that I have ever worked with in my entire life. There wasn't a lot to learn in the yard but to stand there and have customers yell at you because they say that they are getting ripped off. They also do not follow the speed limit in the yard. Even though we almost get run over every day the two managers that go outside do not care. The woman yells what do you want me to do about it. It isn't my job and then she looks mad at you and walks off. The guy that goes outside doesn't even listen and glares at you for pointing out a safety issue or swears at you. You also have to work 6 days a week. The co-workers are fun to work with. I quit because I hated the managers.

The job here was pretty good for the starters, but must consider the polluted and dusty environment around you. Especially management, they don't really care to their employees, less compensations, lots of bosses (even they are not), some employees thinks they are really good but actually they are not (especially staffs who works here for so long, thinking they are also a boss), salary seldomly raise, but in fairness, some supervisors and managers are good, they are easily to talk to and friendly.. This company needs whole managerial change...

A company is only as good as its employees are. I joined this company over a decade ago and I am still working here. I have seen good and bad times since I joined and the good times have taken over here at Calgary Metal. Some of my colleagues have been working here for over 20 years and the majority of our team has been working for over 5 or even 10 years now. I believe that says a lot about the work environment. Teamwork makes the dream work. It is team effort for sure. 

Working together as a team between the scrap yard and scale house to provide a recycling service of various metals. Supportive management that ensures your needs are met and are always there to lend a hand. Opportunities to learn more about materials brought in by local scrappers and being able to form bonds with customers. 

Good co workers in general but management was a little flakey
Very much a gossipy place with lots of drama but one can keep to himself and get his job done.

Salary is good, but there are too many people who act like a supervisor when they are not and management is not doing something about it.                     

Large fleet of on highway and off road equipment as well as several mills to maintain. Excellent learning environment with industry specific equipment. Solid team and well managed work environment.

This was a great place to work. It gave me a stable environment to hone my skills as a  Heavy Equipment Operator, however, Management needs work in order to better communicate and handle staff.

If you like being disrespected and working 6 days a week, this is the job for you. Salaries good, but the Supervisor is a jerk. You also have to work 6 days a week every second week.
