Calgary Remand Centre

The people who work there are miserable and treat you like garbage. They are rude for no reason, and complain about how hard they have it. The job itself is not hard, it is the people who work there who make it hard. Everyone is looking for a way out of there. The pay is decent with lots of overtime but the place drains you to where you need time off. If you feel like hating your life, I would suggest working there.

-Perform routine duties such as preparing milk, juices, sandwiches, for the inmates. i learned a lot of  new things especially safety issues. One of the best management and the co-worker is good. The hardest part of the job is in the dish room if closing because time pressured if the counts of inmates is up. The most enjoyable part of the of the job when we are talking while we are working.

Money decent, if you can get full time. Burn out, abuse, clicks with every team. Some support from none CO'S, but if a team doesn't like you, you will never get shifts. The job can be dangerous though, having experience in law enforcement is recommended, but never talk about your previous employments or training.

You are at risk all time. Have to work with inmates and correctional officers under severe supervision and stress. You get extra money called danger fee. You have to work different shifts.

If you can handle the pace, are hard to intimidate and can see past a person’s appearance, you just might fit in. 

If you scare easily, have a thin skin or are looking for something with a positive happy environment, this job is not for you. 

About 80 of the Corrections Officers were good to work with but the other 20 were terrible, they would curse you out, call you profane  names and did everything in their power to get rid of you.  This started at the top and went through the ranks. .

you have to take your breaks on their schedule which is fine,  you must be speedy, nothing else matters except speed. workplace culture is not designed if you are autistic.

Can be a good job. It’s stressful and the culture is not professional. It pays well and there is moderate chance for advancement. If you smoke, play hockey and golf with the management you will get further.
